I really find it irritating when a fellow believer comes to me and tells me the Lord has given them a message for me, like he really needs a go between to tell me something, he can not just tell me himself. I try not to be troublesome to the Lord that he would have to take time out of his busy schedule to have to speak to someone to have them give me a message it would be easier for him to just whack me upside my head to get my attention, less complicated and I would be less tempted to sin for wanting to punch the messenger in the mouth. That be my rant today.
I think my sister is mentally challenged or just trying to irritate me. She knows I believe scripture, so she comes up with these stupid statements and questions. "Since God is spirit and has no physical body, how can he sit on a throne?" "You Think Jesus ate chocolate bars?" "Which version of the bible did the Apostles use?" I don't know if she is jerking my chain or just plain stupid.
Has she always ask you these kinds of questions? There are those that will challenge what someone believes in. This can be extremely true, when it comes to religion.
You undoubtedly know your sister better than we do. Do you think she's that dumb or just pulling your chain?
Off and on, I refuse to get into a discussion over stupid statements or questions. Growing up, she was always rebellious and making our parents angry over her opposition to scripture. For being raised in a religious, bible believing community, I was amazed she was not brought up before the elders and shunned for her outspoken beliefs.
It's not against the law to be "outspoken", but. You, and your parents, had your beliefs and she has hers. There are members of this forum that are the exact same way.
"You, and your parents, had your beliefs and she has hers"... That is not how it works in Amish community It may not be against the law to be out spoken in American society, not so in Amish society/culture. In American culture you have local, state and federal laws governing citizen behavior. In Amish culture, it is the ordnung, the rules regulations of the community elders that determines community behavior.
Some people can think that I can be "inconsiderate and rude", even though wife and I don't think I am. My SIL (wife's sister) is so "straight-laced", she simply doesn't understand real life things sometimes. People ask questions, make statements and many times, don't give it a thought of what they are asking or saying.
Thank You, Teresa! I just wish my SIL felt like you do. But, then again, she doesn't even get along with her own brother (he's like me).
"Blessed is he who is no offended in Me" Jesus says. "To see the Kingdom of Heaven, you must be becoming like an infant/'little child'" (pure in heart, and born again) The questions are good ones, or can be, simple and honest and revealing.
