St Jude's Children Hospital showing children With Cancer and the SPCA showing abused and abandoned dogs and puppies. Both commercials are successful in raising money and I support both.

We turn off sad TV commercials, immediately. I give to a few charities and schools, every December. That's it. I resent tear-jerker TV commercials.

Don't pay much attention to them. There are plenty of people in America that can afford to give money, but many can't. We can't. Then again, there are those that can afford and don't.

Don't like my posts, put me on "Ignore". Or, I could just leave the forum and never post again. I'm sure that would be fine with you and some others, but are you that lucky? LOL

Anyway, if you feel so emotional, when seeing these ads, why don't you donate to both?? Good question, hugh????

In his first post he said he supports both organizations. And who on earth is "hugh?"

Supporting meaning he gives money? Ok, Beth, I did it again, I mean to say "huh", not "hugh".

Those critter commercials are the gifts that keep on giving.

I always wonder how the heads of PETA, ASPCA, etc live. Likely the same as 3rd world despots, sucking aid off of the misery that provides funding for their lavish lifestyles. I guess we're all aware of PETA euthanizing the animals they "rescue" 'cause it's cheaper than feeding them. Makes you wonder "What's the point?"

I'm with @Trevalius Guyus I have causes I regularly support based upon research and--in some instances--first hand experience. But I don't give based upon marketing pieces or being approached on the street (except Salvation Army.)

Not long ago I had "The Virginia State Police Association" call and try the hard-sell. I told them "Send me some info, I will research you, and then I'll decide." Of course, they wanted my credit card number immediately, but they relented with the girl saying "Are you committing to sending money once you receive this?" I replied "No, my commitment is to research you and then make my decision." And I did. Literally 80% of the proceeds are skimmed off by an Atlanta-based telemarketing company, then the rest gets farmed out to various Virginia police charities who have their overheads, and the remaining crumbs go to the widows & orphans. So it went into the trash.

A few weeks later I get the follow-up call.
Them: "We haven't seen your contribution."
    Me: "You're not going to."
Them: "So you don't honor your commitments???"
Me: "I sure do. I committed to doing research. You are ripping people off."
Them: "So you don't honor your commitments???"
    Me: "Goodbye." *click*

Helluva way to make a living.

Yes, If only people did the research that could be so revealing and
put an end to the ripping off (if they were not successful ripping people off (making money), they might (hopefully) stop the commercials) , but instead, they believe the commercials.
Is that kind of entertainment good ?

We also support both; excellent causes IMO.
