Looks like a trucked plowed into a large crowd celebrating Bastille Day. Then the driver got out and started shooting, think 84 or more dead and lots injured. Think they said ISIS was responsible. France is getting hit hard with terrorists lately....C'est domage. Hope I remembered my French correctly. I didn't get a link, just posted what I remembered reading. I wonder how far @Julie Stewart is from Nice?
OMG! This is awful! Another attack on July 14, 2016 http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2016/07/nice-bastille-day-terror-attack-77-dead/ so far the article says people in authority don't think it's terror related...sure sounds like terror attack though!
As per the news this morning, 75 were dead and 100 hurt in that Bastille Day accident that later on was clarified as an attack supposedly by ISIS. So it is another sad day for France. After the Paris attack, it is now Nice attack. So what do they have in France that attracts those suicide commandos of ISIS? Worse, they are killing people in the name of their religion. I cannot forget what I had read before, those ISIS murderers have that slogan - behead the infidels - and infidels meant those people who do not believe in their creed, who can also be Muslims of other denominations and non-Muslims including you and me.
One thing is made clear by this guy's approach: Vehicles may be very effectively used as weapons. It's happened before. Terrible thing to imagine. Frank
When news broke earlier this afternoon, the anchorman only stated a couple of dozen were dead. Now I read in the above posts that 100 are dead. What an unnecessary loss of lives.
@Texas Beth As far as I'm concerned, no "unnatural"l loss of lives is "necessary", not even in War. Seems utterly stupid, to me, that terrorists feel they are "getting back" at the folks they hate, when in reality those whom they prey upon have no animosity towards them. Let's say, your neighbor has indicated friendship with you would be desirable, would you consider killing him because his cultural mores differed from yours? (mores: "Mores definition, folkways of central importance accepted without question and embodying the fundamental moral views of a group." Pronounced "morays". Why, in this day and age of "technological enlightenment", has basic human hatred fulminated as it has? Would one not think that given the evidence that humanity is "eating itself alive", eyes would open to the fact that we are not to be here "forever". Frank
The death toll is 84 this morning. I don't know how bad the other injuries are, though, or if it's expected to rise.
@Frank Sanoica - apparently, IS has told its supporters to use vehicles as weapons Evil has no boundaries - evil has no cause - just pure evil
I remember awhile back here in the states that Trucks were a worry and was always reading about some trucks missing and it was always thought that they were stolen for terrorist purposes. After awhile I didn't hear that so much.
