Just last week I was talking to my sister about my granddaughter's seventh month birthday. She was born on my sister's birthday the 29th day of the month but in July. Suddenly this thought came to mind, "Are there 29 days in February this year?" I wondered then , "How does being born on the 29th day of any month except in February affect the age like Leap Year does?" Would someone lose a month during Leap Year? Which if you think about it they would only be eleven months and not 12. What are your thoughts?

It seems most Leap Day birthdays are celebrated on Feb. 28th or March 1st in the years without the day.
It probably doesn't cause much problem for those people, or anyone else's birthdays.

    many celebrity birthdays for Feb.29th:
    • 1468 – Pope Paul III (d. 1549)
    • 1792 – Gioacchino Rossini, Italian composer (William Tell, The Barber of Seville) (d. 1868)
    • 1896 – Morarji Desai, former Indian prime minister (d. 1995)
    • 1968 – Wendi Louise Peters, English television and theatre character actress
    • 1916 – Dinah Shore, American singer (d. 1994)
    • 1924 – Al Rosen, American baseball player
    • 1924 – Carlos Humberto Romero, former president of El Salvador
    • 1960 – Anthony (Tony) Robbins, American motivational speaker
    • 1964 – Lyndon Byers, Canadian hockey player
    • 1972 – Saul Stacey Williams, American singer, musician, poet, writer, and actor
    • 1972 – Antonio Sabàto Jr, Italian-born actor
    • 1976 – Ja Rule (real name Jeffrey Atkins), American rapper and actor
    • 1980 – Chris Conley, American musician and songwriter/composer

For some reason, Leap Years always seem magical to me. I guess an extra day is an added opportunity to pack some more goodness into the year. The 29th is on a Monday, and it seems that should make it a long weekend. I'll have to think up something interesting to do, to commemorate the event.

Feb. 29 birthdays are celebrated on Feb. 28 usually I read in an article about it. If I was born on Feb. 29, I'd celebrated it on the 28th and on the 29th when leap year comes around. I'd not worry about it much if it was my birthday. There is an article that Bonnie found too about celebrating Feb. 29 birthday interesting facts about it:

Those born on February 29th most likely celebrate March 1st as their day. I would if I worn a leap year baby.

There used to be a question dues February always have 28 days? The correct answer is yes it always has 28 day regardless that every 4 years it has one extra.

The Ethiopian calendar also accounts for leap years, but the way it works is that there are 12 months of 30 days and then a tiny month which has five or six days depending on whether it's a leap year. This is also the basis of the Egyptian calendar and is also sometimes known as the Coptic calendar.

Another interesting fact is that the Ethiopian year is some seven years behind ours, so when I was in that country in late 2006, they were just preparing for their own year 2000.
