    Howdoo!

Its been a long time since I frequented Bars and Cocktail Lounges!

During the Sixties, between my discharge from the Army in 1962 until my first Marriage in 1969, I was a regular "Barfly" at my neighborhood piano bar "Jack's Hideaway".

    I enjoyed going to Jack's and other piano bars, and I recall that I always ordered a "7 & 7". (Bourbon & 7-UP)

If I did a good job singing a song, other patrons would buy me a drink, but I never made a practice of this.

In addition, I also visited bars during the 3-1/2 years between marriages, from 1990 to 1994.

I don't recall what I paid for drinks in those days.

What do they charge for a Cocktail or a Beer these days? What's the appropriate tip?

    Thanks,
    Hal

During the 21 years I was single (well, divorced then) I spent many Friday and Saturday nights at rock n roll nightclubs and later country-western nightclubs. I was pretty much a "bottle sucker", meaning that I could buy a bottle of beer and have it last me for two or three hours. Basically, one bottle would last me the entire time I was in the club.

Actually, when I was unemployed and collecting UI, I would buy a bottle of beer at a 7-11. When I got to a club, still inside my truck, I'd pull up my jeans, at the cuff, and put the bottle just inside my cowboy boot and walk into the club. I'd pay the cover charge, go to the restroom stall and pull the bottle out and open. Had been in the club before, so knew kind of beer sold and whether it was can or bottle.
Hey, I wanted to have some fun, but didn't have a job, so I had to "do what I had to do" to have that Friday and/or Saturday night fun.

Around $4 for a bottle of beer today and a $1 tip.

I was never into the bar scene.

Probably went to a few bars with hubby but rarely.

Now the only time I'm at a bar is if I'm with my kids at a restaurant that has one and it's full so we sit at the bar and wait for a table...they'll have a drink...I won't.

    Exciting, right? Haha

Well, another nice thing about where we want to move to...…..there are two nice size country-western restaurant/nightclubs. There is also a big one in Cheyenne, Wyoming that I was at years ago, before I met my wife. Being that fact they are country-western, we can dawn our western attire and go out for dinner at possibly a little 2-stepping.

Nothing like that here. Absolutely nothing.

We're at bars and pub/restaurants several times a week most weeks.... I'm tee-total, but my husband is not. We don't have 'cover charges' here... and depending on the strength of the beer or lager and the area you're drinking in, it can cost anything from £1,50 to £8.00 a pint... In the City ( London) it's a higher price, here in the countryside it's around £3.00 for a decent beer or ale.. around £2.00 or less for a cheap lager.

We've been working out in the garden DIY'ing all this weekend in 90 degree plus... heat... at around 5 pm we took ourselves off to sit in the sun in the village pub/restaurant huge garden , and had dinner . I just had fruit juice as always , but hubs had a newly locally brewed cider 5ABV strength .. that was £4.00

    I know that's a non alcoholic drink but what's in it? I doubt I'll like it...I'm a water drinker....boring, I know.

@Chrissy, I don't even know what's in it, and I'm too sleepy to look it up, so I'm gonna take nap now. (It's 3:12 PM.)
