Another Film Noir. I'm beginning to like these depressing movies. :)

John Garfield, Patricia Neal, and Phyllis Thaxter. An adaptation of the Hemingway novel, To Have and Have Not. A nice guy trying to make a living by hiring out his fishing boat. Has some bad luck and makes some bad choices out of desperation.

John Garfield died of coronary thrombosis two years later at age 39. There was more depth to his character in this movie than most of his others.

This was a very good movie, imo. The scenery was real. It kept your (my) attention without a break. Started on Turner Classics. Then watched it on YouTube.

Nancy we have rewatched most of the oldies, so now I just google inspiring true stories much of the time. Although we do really like the old movies.
