Tent City on the edge of Adeline Street in Berkeley, California. The tech boom in the San Francisco area has provided the region with tens of thousands of jobs and many new millionaires. It's also jacked up rents, leaving many residents homeless.
Are the jobs 'not' well paid then Frank ? If the area is thriving, tents on streets is ludicrous and the Town Mayor needs to wake up and look around
I don't think we have rent control except for the properties who were grandfathered in - in New York. If someone is renting a property, they can rent it for whatever they can get for it. It fluctuates some with the economy, but right now, it's an all time high. Just ridiculous! This is why so many young people and even young families end up living with one of their parents. In addition, California is possibly the most expensive state to live in within the USA.
