    My Dad sent away for one when I was a small kid. Think they were made in England. Self-contained, reusable blade with sharpening strops facing either side inside the metal container, which was about 6 inches long, 3/4 inch thick, and 3 inches wide. Ever seen one? Frank

    He never liked it very much, used it for some months, then returned to his old straight-edge razor.

    I've seen the Rolls, but cannot recall where. I've shopped tons of second hand stores in my life, but get the feeling I've seen it as a personal possession of a family member.

    The earliest memory I have of my father's kit was the double-edged disposable...and he used a soap cup and brush.

    @John Brunner

    When one closed our bathroom door, that exposed a strap (strop?), leather I think it was, hanging on a hook on the door. Occasionally, I saw my Dad stropping his razor. Once, he held up the long strap, and asked, "You see this?"

    I knew what he meant!
