I suppose I am among the few people in the United States who hasn't seen The Sopranos, so I am trying to watch it. It was so popular and ran for so long, that I am thinking that it must be good, but I certainly couldn't tell that from the pilot. I remember now why I quit watching it about five minutes into the first episode.

It jumps back and forth between the psychiatrist's office and a few moments of playing out whatever it is that he's telling the psychiatrist, as if it's trying to be a third drama, a third comedy, and a third documentary, and it's not doing it for me. I don't know if I'll be able to sit through the first episode. I hope they don't do that throughout the entire series.

OMG, I absolutely loved the Sopranos and was so bummed when it ended. I have watched the entire series multiple times. Also was saddened by James Gandolfini's untimely death.

I'll give it a chance but I've nearly finished the first episode and, so far, it sucks.

No, I can't do it. I gave it one whole episode and it's among the worst shows I have ever seen in my life. I don't get it. Why was it so popular?

I like crime and mafia documentaries, but I'm with you, I just couldn't get into the character or story. It was a major topic at work. I didn't want to admit I didn't like it because I sounded so uncool. I think you are the only other person I've met who didn't get it either.

That jumping back and forth between the psychiatrist and the story was annoying. I wanted to like it because I was in the mood to bing-watch something that lasted for several seasons.

I look for those too & for the same reason. Eventually, you get lucky and run into a good one, It's hard though for someone to suggest one, because we are all so different in what entertains us. Today I watched an old mini series from Canada on YouTube. If you search around, they have some really great older series.
