Watched the video and can understand the gentlemen's feelings on wearing his hat for the photograph. He is correct about the 'Oath' he took. The last statement is "So help me God". He probably feels the same as I do, that the 'Oath' has no time limit. "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." In 2008, The National Defense Authorization Act allowed for "Un-uniformed service members, military retirees, and Veterans to render a hand salute during the hoisting, lowering or passing of the American Flag. Including the playing of the National Anthem". When I render a hand salute a flood of memories will come, and reminds me I am still under 'Oath' to my country.
