I have not done a lot traveling in the past. I plan to make this year the year that I travel, it has always been my dream to go to Paris, France. I don't know if I will make it there this year but I can plan for next year to go to Paris but I can make one of the other trips I would like to make is to the islands for a short visit. I don't do water trips, the cruises look like so much fun, but I think I would not be able to relax to enjoy the trip for fear of the water. I have been on a boat but it was close to the shore and not very large.
I would serioously LOVE to go on any kind of a vacation cruise ! ! My daughter went on a cruise ship this summer, and she went up to Alaska and back. the scenery that she photographed was magnificent, and she also went river rafting and zip-lining. I am not into doing all of those things, but i would dearly love going on one of the 3-day cruises that sail down the coast of Florida and to the Bahamas and back. I used to get the sales ads from cruises.com; but finally I realized that I was never going to be able to afford a vacation like that, so I unsubscribed from the sales ads. I am going to go and viisit my friend who lives in Southern Idaho. We were good friends when we both lived in northern Idaho, and then I moved out here after Bobby and I got married. She has a little motor home, and she bought my kayak when we moved; so she has both of the ones we used to take kayaking, and we are planning to go to one of the nearby lakes and camp, maybe swim, and go kayaking together. It will be mid-May when I go, so nice and warm weather by then. It has been several years since I have been back to Idaho, and I am really looking forward to seeing my friend, Pat.
I think we're mostly sticking around California... Weekends in San Diego, or maybe San Francisco... Next year, however, I'm going to Thailand for 8 weeks to volunteer... So that's kind of where my travel focus is... and probably where my money will go!
I use to live in San Jose, Ca., it has been a more than 10yrs now. I am ready for a quick visit to San Francisco this spring would be nice. Thailand should be nice, how long will it take you to get there?
I think it's a 17 or 18 hour flight... Ughh I took a couple of classes at San Jose State when I lived in the Bay Area... Gotta say I miss SF too.... I need to get up there some time this year...
Normally we go to either Florida or Cuba this time of year, to get away from the cold but this year we are staying home because we hope to visit Quebec in the summer or early fall. I would love to head to the east coast of Canada too once we have seen Quebec but my hubby isn't a good traveler in the car, so we will have to see about that.
Hi Kevin! I have been using Thailand as my home base for about 7 years and I am sure you will have a great time here! Hi Pat! This year I plan to make a little trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia to visit the Ankgor Wat ruins. It has always been on my bucket list and I should be able to go in June. Also, I may take my first cruise as a guest (hope so) and I am looking forward to that.
In June I am flying to Greece from Poland to an island - Karpathos. Here are some photos, I'm so excited about going there.
We are leaving early Thursday morning for our homeland Texas. We are trying to see all three girls, a niece, 3 friends, and my brother and his wife. All scatter and the most work. It is a tad difficult but hope to get that done. The trip is mainly to see brother - he has dementia. Not sure how much longer he will remember me, or us, so will go now while he does. Plus, it is doubtful we will travel this far again. A host of reasons and all valid. We will spend a few days with one daughter- Marks actually, who plans on taking us for Mexican food and seafood.. Yippie , as you know there are no real food places here. Also will see my BFF of 50 plus years. I am sure once we are plagued with traffic, lights, and much noise, quite of being here in Kansas and only having cattle crossing for traffic, and No highway trash what so ever- will be welcomed I hoping for a safe and happy trip. I may check in but doubt I will post. I am gonna wanna dance across Texas
That is so awesome, @Hedi Mitchell , and I hope that you and your husband have a great trip and enjoy visiting with all of the relatives. Are you taking the dogs along, or will someone else be watching them while you are gone ?
In red above: First, my only cruise ship adventure, but my wife's second. We did it in August 2008, when we lived in Huntersville, NC.. We flew out of Charlotte, NC to Orlando, FL. Unfortunately, due to a Hurricane off of Key West coast, our cruise ship (Carnaval Sensation) got held up in Miami. When we arrived at Orlando Airport, we were bused over to Disney Downtown to waste some time. After we got back to Orlando Airport, we had to (again) fill out all Security information. I had done this at home, but all information was lost on ship's computers. The cruise ship finally got to Cape Carnaval at 10:30PM and we got to it around 11:30PM. IOW, no Champagne "Farewell" on the deck at 1PM. We actually at supper (hamburger/fries) at 1AM. Some of the itinerary had been changed as well. Stopped in the Bahamas and went to Black Beards Beach. Stunningly beautiful/clear water for swimming. After that, it was on to Freeport. Part of the Hurricane had hit and the beach was a disaster of seaweed. On the ship, we attended the Captain's Party in our "Sunday best" (not western apparel) and a very nice dinner (also in "Sunday best"). Just want to let you know.
There's only two trips were are planning and, one isn't really even a trip, it will be "relocating". First, a trip, in June, to Carson City/Reno area to check out to move there. It will be for a week and have room reservations, at two different hotels, already made. Neither of us have ever been to either city, but looking very forward to the trip. Second trip, for-to-say, will be moving out of Henderson/Las Vegas and, hopefully, up to northwestern Nevada. Was originally planning on a trip to Lake Havasu, but due to planning on moving out of Henderson, the finances won't be there to see Lake Havasu. And, that's fine with us.
We have three trips planned for this year so far: !) To Washington State to visit our newest (so far) grandchild, 2) to Missouri and Iowa to visit a grand child who should be born by the time we go and to visit wife's friends in Iowa, 3) to Pennsylvania to see my brother and some friends , and to go to Gettysburg, where my wife has wanted to visit since before we married and we have never gone.
Only have one now, she will be staying with his niece of in wilderness land. Just have her shots tick flea meds so hopefully no surprises when we get home. Thank you
