See that arrow next to the battery icon in the top right corner? I must have accidentally touched something awhile ago...it's been there for months and I can't figure out what it's for and how to get rid of it.

    Anybody know?

    I've tried googling but since I don't know what it's called....I didn't get far.

I don't know, and I don't have an iPad, but have you tried clicking the arrow?

I looked it up and it is apparently an indicator that an app running in the background is using your location, such as a maps app or something similar. Many apps want to use your locaton, so that is why it is showing that icon.

Thanks, how do I get rid of it?

Guess I'll go into settings and see if I can. It's on constantly.

Edit: turned off location services. Of course most of the time you can't do anything unless you allow it.

It's an app using your location. To find out which app, go to settings, location services and scroll down until you see a purple arrow, you can turn it on (which it will already be) or off.

Thanks, I turned them all off. I'm sure if I need it for an app, I'll get a pop up saying I need to turn it on.

One thing I have noticed since I switched from an Apple device to a Samsung device is that the apps for Samsung seem to require all sorts of permissions that I'd prefer not to give out, but of course if I want to use the apps, I don't have much choice. It seems almost every one I've downloaded wants to use my location. Sometimes I decide to let it, depending on which app it is and what it might be used for, but if it's not something I feel would benefit me, I deny it.
