My 5 favorite Christmas movies in order: The Christmas Carol I enjoy all version If I had to pick one it's the one with Reginal Owens It's a wonderful life Miracle on thirty fourth street (original version) One Magic Christmas Elf
Miracle on 34th street, the original version. The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017) Maybe not an all time favorite but we certainly enjoyed it.
One of the neighborhood sites People have been debating whether this is a true christmas movie or an action movie that takes place at Christmas. The site is asking people to vote for there favorite Christmas movie, the survey will run for 7 days, that's where I got the idea for this tread. They want to see how many votes Die Hard get in the final count.
It died hard for for us too, last xmas we had was 1984. Haven't missed it at all, although I do like some of the music and people are in a good mood for a few weeks of the year.
My question is this... must the movie be about the birth of Jesus to be a Christmas movie? Most "Christmas movies" are just a story set at Christmastime, so why not Die Hard? It isn't sappy but it is entertaining.
Most Christmas movies are not about Jesus, more about spirit of Christmas. I think it's a matter of taste. One of my all time, favorite movies "Meet John Doe" happens at Christmas and New Year, I never considered it to be a Holiday movie and it it had a 10 handkerchief ending.
I always liked Alastair Sims' Christmas Carol. At some point I burned out on It's A Wonderful Life. And I bet you get a ton of votes for Die Hard.
I also love Christmas Vacation, with Chevy Chase. Although the movie is a comedy, this particular scene (Clark in the attic) puts a lump in my throat every time. Probably because of the Ray Charles song, The Spirit of Christmas. (2 min video)
There's a christmas movie I DVR'D today that I really like. I saw it a few years ago and I had been waiting to catch it on TV to see it again. "Christmas in Conway" made in 2013, starring Andy Garcia, Mandy Moore, and Mary-Louise Parker. It was one of the rare Hallmark movies that was different. Most Hallmark movies are same story, just change actors and location.
You hit a certain age, then you hit a certain limit. I quit watching it before I hated Jimmy Stewart in general. And the message has little to do with Christmas. A Christmas Story is at least about gratitude and repentance.
My daughter watches A Christmas Story every year, Wife, and I could not get through it.We didn't care for it.
That's pretty funny. Does your daughter have a specific version she likes? (Please don't tell me it's Mister Magoo.)
I'll check with her Tomorrow, I can't remember the actors names that are in it, But it's not mister magoo, I didn't know he made a version. If I remember right I think Mr. Magoo did A Christmas Carol also. I'll have to check on that.
