I recently got a new coffee maker...a "Mr.Coffee." This is the clock on it. I was glad it's analog...they communicate the time better than digital. But some design engineer (or maybe a marketing guy) decided to add a sweep second hand to the display. Normally, this would be no big deal. But due to display limitations, the sweep second hand and the minute hand are exactly the same. You cannot glance at the clock and tell what time it is...you have to wait for the second hand to move and kinda digest it. And once the "that makes no sense" impression has been made, it takes a second to flush it out and regain perspective. I'm thinking of putting tape over it.
One of our local barber shops had a tv in his window so that the neighborhood kids could watch HowdyDoody every day.
Now I know why Star Trek was never set in our solar system. After all, "Klingon" provided enough giggles.
The face comes off so paint the second hand red. Ask your barberette if she has a little extra fingernail polish. Jus’ sayin’
My last barber shop up north was a Vietnamese guy with a bunch of Vietnamese women barbers. It was just a regular low-key barber shop I have gone to for decades...this guy was the 3rd owner. After the haircut, the women would pull a hot towel out of the heater and give the best neck rubs...all for the price of a regular haircut.
I live in a very conservative area. I don't want anyone to know about that. That's why I don't wear open-toed sandals.
I was briefly (2 weeks) stationed in Vung Tao, Vietnam around early ‘69. It was one of probably twenty-five haircuts that someone else did in my life and may I agree with you whole heartedly that it was indeed a wonderful experience. Hot towel, neck and upper back massage and all for the price of about 500 P. (around 5 bucks).
