I traveled to Adelaide and back for a doctors appointment ,yesterday to get stitches out where I had a skin cancer removed . I decided to go alone ,and travel down on the community health bus which drops you and picks you up from your appointment . I caught the bus from the little town near home ,the bus them travels through three other small towns picking up people with health related issues/ appointments many of the 12 who traveled yesterday were 80+ years old . One person who was picked up 20 km from where I got the bus, was about in his late 20's .. The bus has a toilet stop halfway to Adelaide ...only the "young" male got off the bus ..he walked a short distance from the bus smoked a bong think that's what it's called..then got back n the bus to travel another 100 km ,the stink/ smell made me feel ill ..remember this is health bus ...I started sneezing, nose running ,eyes watering I had a headache ..I was sitting right behind him ..in a 19 seater bus .Now the question ..should I phone the office where I phone to book a seat on the bus and complain ..or will I sound like a complaining high school kid? this person left some sort of drug container the driver thought was a ice container on the seat after he was dropped off at his appointment ..luckily for us he didn't return on the bus ..
Yes, I would complain especially since it's a bus for people with health related issues. I can just imagine someone with emphysema or allergies sitting on that bus. Was this just a one time ride with this young man? Hopefully he won't be riding again. Sorry you had to go thorough that, Kate.
@Chrissy Page I have lung issues ,due to growing up in a dry dusty mining town,We sold our home in Adelaide because I had constant health/ lung issues living in a city ,and I don't wish my lungs to be polluted by the likes of him causing me to be ill as a result of his lifestyle choices. I have never encountered any issues on the Health Bus in the past ,and I hope he is contacted and warned of his unacceptable actions on a small bus such as that. No Chrissy I heard the bus driver say they would be picking him up today for his return trip.
Yep I would definitely report it kate....I'm not a reporting type of person, but I absolutely cannot stand that smell, and sitting in a bus next to someone who reeks of that would have made me ill, so I can imagine how you must have felt, even though you weren't breathing in the smoke directly. Definitely report it...that's much too long a distance in a small bus to have to cope with that stink!!
Definitely report then, Kate. I usually don't report things and then it eats at me and just makes me sicker. The transport company should understand. In my drs. Office there is a sign that asks you not to wear perfume or anything scented because of some people's allergies. I abide by that.
@Kate Ellery What is a bong? Do they have any way of knowing who the young man was? If so, report the incident so they can warn him.
@Shirley Martin ,That's the name I've heard people use when smoking Dope/ weed. The bus always has the driver and a Companion who assists disabled people traveling on the Health bus ,she commented on how strong the smell was and she was up the front of the bus I was right behind him up the back of the mini bus . We have the "health" bus service ,because we live in a small country town 2 hours from Adelaide city ,and many people including me need to see a specialist doctor from time to time, sure we have some specialists who visit our area once a month ,however I have to travel to Adelaide to see my dermatologist whom I've been seeing for many years.
Katie write "bong" on google images and you can see what one looks like. Here is a description of one: A bong is a filtration device generally used for smoking cannabis, tobacco, or other herbal substances.
