Although today I am throwing in a stuffed turkey breast with pork sausage, smothered cabbage with bacon bits, black-eyed peas also with bacon, and cornbread. Every Cajun woman knows not to mess with the traditional menu on New Year's day! Do y'all have a traditional meal for New Year's day? If not...what will you be eating on this first day of the New Year?

We are also "southern traditionalists." :D We're having black-eyed peas, sauteed cabbage, ham, cornbread, and mashed potatoes.

Our blackeye peas are in our crockpot as I write this. Including a small ham.

Old Yankee me, I've never heard of this. Even when I was stationed in the South.

My daughter and I decided last minute to throw whatever we were having individually on one table and call it a holiday meal.
Without any proper planning, it was a jumbled feast of chili and fried chicken fingers with french fries. :D

Pork chops, sweet potatoes, black-eyed peas and collard greens. My grandma used to put a shiny penny in the black-eyed peas, but I've always passed on that.

I made a big salad with peas, avocado, tomato, and red beans; so even though it was not “southern” , it did have beans in it ........... wonder if that counts for good luck ?
It had lots of romaine for greens, and that should work for the “money part”.
