We had a coffee maker that would grind the coffee beans and then make the coffee for a while , until it broke. The coffee smelled wonderful when it was brewing, and tasted great, too. But after it quit working we just went back to a cheap coffee pot that uses ground coffee.
We do have a coffee grinder, but seldom use it since we can make the already ground coffee so match faster.

However…. I just got a little blender that also comes with a coffer grinder blade; so now we are thinking about getting some whole bean coffee to see if the extra effort is worth the flavor and coffee aroma. Neither of us is likely to just grind each time we want coffee, and especially for that first pot of morning coffee. Bobby can use his McCafe Columbian for that early morning pot.

I usually make mine in a smaller amount, a mug plus a warm-up size. So, I think that if I made some fresh ground coffee and stored it in a small airtight container, then we could have it for when we are just making coffee by the cup later in the day.

I am ordering some Eight O’ Clock Columbian for Mr. Bobby and some Puroast Wellness blend for me. It has less acid and more antioxidants and is supposed to be good for gut health, and all of that sounds good to me.
Plus, it is flavored Bourbon Pecan Torte…… how about that !
    I love flavored coffee !

I always grind just before brewing. By the way, a dedicated coffee grinder grinds at slow speed. Grinding at high speed (like blenders or spice grinders) heats up the coffee which causes bitterness.

Yup. And the grinding wheels (burrs) in dedicated grinders yield uniform grinds, whereas a blade (spice) grinder's output varies widely.

I always grind my coffee, but do it the night before when I set up my coffee to automatically brew in the morning. I grind a 50/50 mix of Eight O'Clock Columbian and Eight O'Clock Dark Italian Espresso, and sometimes throw in a handful of beans I get from ALDI.

I guess many of us recall the coffee grinders at the registers of A&P grocery stores. I get my Eight O'Clock at Walmart these days.

I just looked at Amazon and they have several sizes of the Puroast coffee. However, I found mine at Walmart, so you should be able to get it at either place.

We use ground coffee. It's convenient. I use to grind whole beans for coffee years ago but I have gotten away from it. I use to be able to get some really fresh tasting whole beans or ground coffee from Gloria Jean's years ago, when it was in the mall. We really liked Gloria Jean's Kenya AA and Kona coffee. But sadly there is no mall or Gloria Jean’s. Gloria Jean is on line but only sells flavored coffee.

We once ground beans by a hand grinder, but now just use cheap stuff out of the can. One daughter runs quality control at a coffee grinder in Washington. I found out from her that much of the coffee in the country is under her purview--Starbucks, Black Rifle, and others are roasted and ground at the plant where she works. They all have different blends and slightly different standards as to roast, timing, and bean type and source. I was very surprised at how precise they are with timing. Apparently the green (unroasted) beans are quite stable, but once the roasting is started, everything must be completed according to a very demanding schedule. If there is too much lapse in time between any of the steps, the entire batch must be discarded and started over. I had no idea.

My wife has a French Press that she uses to brew her flavored coffee as I can't stand the stuff. She uses it mostly during holidays and special occasions, but I like coffee as I like whiskey and other things--I like them to taste like coffee or bourbon, Scotch, etc. instead of mint, hazelnuts, honey, or whatever. Our other daughter brews all her coffee using a freshly-ground bean in a French Press, but she, like me, likes coffee that tastes like coffee. I 'm sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't intended. Just my opinion and preference expressed.

We don't grind beans as often as we used to, though I have a nice electric coffee grinder. Victims of "the easy way," we most often use a Keurig and k-cups. I vacuum sealed the last ground coffee I bought and put it in the freezer; that was several months ago during the hurricane/power outage when I made drip coffee on the stove.

My husband and I both like plain black coffee too. As well as no sugar or cream.

My Puroast Bourbon Pecan whole bean coffee arrived today, and the fragrance is amazing ! The coffee grinder should be here this afternoon noon in the USPS mail, so I am anxious to grind some up and taste it.
Bobby’s Columbian Eight O’Clock coffee came yesterday with my Walmart order, but my coffee was shipped. I will grind some for both of us once the grinder arrives.

We have both tried our new whole bean coffee. Bobby said he is still using his regular McCafe in the mornings for his large pot of coffee, but having the Eight O’clock columbian when he does single cups later in the day.
If I am up early , I usually steal a cup of Bobby’s coffee, since it is already made, but I really prefer the lighter breakfast roast coffee.
I have been making my Puroast coffee in the single serve side of the coffee pot, and it is okay, but does not taste as wonderful as it smells. I will probably not buy this kind anymore , since I do not think it is worth the extra cost. It might be that one of their other flavors/roasts are more to my liking.
But overall, the new blender is doing what it is supposed to do. I grinds up the coffee beans in the grinder container, and the larger one is what I am using to mix up our Ninja Creami ice cream with.
It is really cold, but we have eggnog ice cream, so we might have to eat that, even if it is freezing outside.
Mine is made with the Premier Protein meal replacement drink and a half cup of cottage cheese. I love the Ninja Creami ! !

The title had me a bit confused. I wasn't sure how one would drink whole bean coffee. I visualized soaking the whole beans in boiling water and then drinking that. I once bought the roasted beans and ground my own, then a guy, near me, started a roasting and grinding business in his home shop. I could buy the fresh roasted and ground from him cheaper than at the store.

His place was small and the fumes in it were toxic. I don't know how he worked in there all day.

Does anyone here roast their own?
