Thought I'd share this, but you really had to be there .......... A bit like 'Four Candles' sketch I go to draw some money from the bank, the girl we see always asks how we are I'm on antibiotics - my third week, says I 'How much are you taking ?' she says Fab says '8 a day !' ......... In the meantime I'm putting me card in the slot and she says 'How much you taking ?' .............500mg says I With that she collapses into laughter and 'No - how much do you want to withdraw ?' With that, we all collapse into laughter, and I've been laughing since (She should have said that in the first place)
Laughter is really good medicine to keep everyone healthy. Looks like you got a good healthy dose at the Bank @Patsy Faye.

My foster son married an English girl. When they first got back here, I could hardly understand a word she said. But after a while, we taught her to speak proper English.
Seriously, though, we both speak English but there is a huge difference in how we speak it. Somebody posted a clip from a favorite English TV program. I couldn't understand most of what they were saying. I can clearly understand what they say in Downton Abby.
My daughter in law is Italian. I can barely understand her english if I listen ever so closely. I don't say anything though she might suggest we communicate in German or Spanish. When I don't understand sometime I pretend to.
I had a friend who was French. She spoke very heavily accented English. I asked her to speak slowly so that I could understand her. She taught me a few French phrases and we would speak French. It was fun to watch people's reactions to that.
