My favorite is an older movie; but no matter how many times I watch it; I still enjoy it just as much every time. As romance stories go, it is a little unusual. The movie is called Ladyhawke, and it is about Navarre and Isabeau, two lovers who have been cursed by an evil bishop who is jealous. The curse is that Navarre changes into a black wolf every night, and at dawn changes back into a man. Isabeau is a woman by night, and a beautiful wild hawk in the day time; so even though they travel together, they are doomed to never actually see and touch each other as a man and a woman. LadyHawke is the story of their quest together to break the curse and be able to truly be together again. If you have never seen it, it is well worth watching, and if you like horses, you will totally love the black Fresian stallion that Navarre rides.
I don't really watch romance movies, but my very favourite is Breakfast at Tifanny's. I really like the actor Audrey Hepburn.
I'm sorry but my favorite romance movie is a local movie that you cannot relate to. Anyway, it is the story of a lady boss and her handsome executive assistant who happens to be so close to the big boss that he knows the business more than the lady boss does. And in a critical situation, the assistant was forced by the lady boss to pretend that he was the boss in front of the Japanese client. And so there was no romance at first but it comes later when you least expected it. The title is You're The Boss.
That sounds good, and reminds me of The Proposal, which I enjoy watching. I sometimes like watching foreign movies, and I'm sure many here enjoy them, as well, as long as there are subtitles.
This looks and sounds vaguely familiar, so perhaps I saw it when it was first released. I can see why it's your favorite. It looks as if it's available to stream, too.
I'm not longer a movies enthusiast, but romance I may remember to have liked... hmm... I liked Richard Gere's Pretty Woman, and also the romance between Beauty and the Beast
The Notebook. Aside from being in love with James Garner, the movie made me cry. The ending wasn't the two of them walking away, her cured, and them hand in hand to live a perfect life. It was so much more intense and deep than that. It had a very powerful message!
Let me just segue a bit because your mention of foreign movie reminded me of a Chinese movie that we watched early this year. The title was From Vegas to Macau. The actors seem to be newbies and the script seemed to be written by an amateur. But in fairness, the producer had spent a lot in the production of the movie. Aside from the corny plot and the corny gags, the flow of story is dragging and there were so many incredible scenes that are out of the normal. In other words, it is trash.
Because I love nature and appreciate great photography and videography, even if a show or movie is trashy, I will sometimes watch it just for the visual appeal. Not that I'm saying that's the case with the one you mentioned, but it reminded me of how much I love beautiful scenery.
Nowadays I don't tend to watch a lot of romantic movies, though I did when I was younger. One that I always watch when it's shown on TV is "Dirty Dancing". Patrick Swayze was wonderful in that movie. It's really sad that he died so young. "The Notebook" wasn't one that immediately came to mind, but I agree that it was a wonderful movie, and another I've watched a few times. Now that you mention it, I'd love to see it again.
That is a great movie Ladyhawke. The first time I saw it was with my father, so that is a memory in itself for me. As for my own favorite romance movie, that is hard to decide. This is a genre in film that I happen to like a great deal. I have seen some great romance movies over the years including Ladyhawke and Titanic..
Do you remember the scene where Patrick Swayze gets out of bed and the show the side of his butt cheek? That scene was the reason theaters weren't allowed to show "Dirty Dancing" where I lived back then.
I usually don't watch romance movies. I don't know if they count, but my wife forces me to watch Turkish soap operas with her, and they tend to be really corny and romantic, just like romance movies. I guess I liked one which had the Turkish king, Suleyman, as the main character. It was still really boring to me, though. :/
I really loved Dirty Dancing and The Ghost both are Patrick Swayze movies. One of my favorite romance movies is Doctor Zhivago an older movie.
