Atheism & Antitheism
While it can reasonably be argued that atheism is not a religion for many atheists, in its most vocal context, it meets the definition of a religion. A religion need not be based on a belief in the existence of a supreme being, and there are several non-deistic religions, Buddhism being one of the most notable. In its broadest sense, atheism is an absence of belief in the existence of deities and, in that sense, atheists are not necessarily engaged in a religion. Less broadly, atheism is a rejection of the belief that any deities exist and, in an even narrower sense, it is the specific position that there are no deities. In its narrowest sense, atheism is an opposition to belief in the existence of a god or gods. This form of atheism may also be known as antitheism. The focus of this subcategory is on atheism and antitheism.
