I love stories like this one, where a woman's dog saved her from being hit and no doubt killed, by an oncoming train. There are a few sets of train tracks where I live, and I enjoy hearing the sounds of the trains and their horns at night, but I rarely see trains during the day. There is a light rail track running through downtown Houston, though, and it seems people and vehicles are always being hit by the trains. The signage doesn't seem to be the best, and I was driving up there one day and turned before realizing I was going across tracks, so I can definitely see how accidents happen. This woman happened to be walking, and although her dog hasn't been trained to do so, he warned her and got her off the tracks before she was hit by the train. She has hearing loss to environmental noises, so didn't hear the train coming.
Yes a great story - we have had several lately where the owners have died trying to save their dogs - so very sad and tragic I love the sound of a train too and songs with trains as a theme When I was fostered, we had a train track across from the garden, me and my little foster brother would wait by the window for the train to come before getting into bed when we heard it coming I would sing 'Goodbye Jimmy Goodbye, it was our ritual
Awww lovely story.... I know a woman who had a stroke and who has one of those service dogs and it's so incredibly bright. If she drops even a piece of candy on the floor the dog carefully picks it up in it's mouth and gives it back to her, doesn't even attempt to eat it..!! @Patsy Faye I love train songs too.... here's a couple of songs for you which you may already know... one oldie , and one much more modern...
I had forgotten that old song until you just mentioned it. I am guessing that this is the same one you used to sing when the train went by ?
@Yvonne Smith - yes Yvonne that's the one, not heard your version only know the Ruby Murray one, an Irish gal Here it is, very similar .............
@Holly Saunders - not heard these, the fella singing 'Long Black Train' surprised me, his face doesn't suit his voice ! Thanks for those, I must look up some more, especially C & W songs We recently recorded 'Last train to San Fernando' - boy was that train fast ! We slowed it down just a little - love it !
lol @Patsy Faye , that's the gorgeous Josh turner, Country singer...he does have a very deep voice doesn't he....?
