There is a woman in town here who puts jars out to collect money for people whenever someone suffers a house fire or catastrophic illness, yet I have heard from several people who say that almost none of it goes to the people who the money was collected for, and that includes one person who had lost her house in a fire and who swears that she received nothing whatsoever, despite the fact that there were jars placed in local businesses by this woman.

She used to run a local newspaper. At a time when her political allies had the majority vote on the town council, the town gave her a loan to start the newspaper. She made two payments on the loan, and the town council voted to give her another loan not long before she shut her newspaper down. No payments have been made on the loan.

That's exactly what I was thinking @Chrissy Page @Corie Henson! Those CDs would be worth a LOT. Look at how that kind of tape launched the Kardashian clan to fame. I agree with you husband's boss. People seem to value something more if they have to pay for it, and it doesn't always matter how much the charge is.

@Ken Anderson She sounds like the person here in the neighborhood with all her GoFundMe campaigns. She and her husband seem to have plenty enough for vacations, multiple vehicles (including multiple recreational vehicles), etc., yet is always talking about being so broke. She kisses up to the popular people in the neighborhood, and doesn't seem to have any pride whatsoever.

My husband's job is connected with the local movie industry and he got close with some actors and directors. There's one comedian he knows who has the penchant to help those in need. When someone in the industry gets sick or dies, this comedian is quick to make a rounds of the rich actors and actresses with an open palm to raise funds for the sick or the dead. And although he gives part of the collected money to the intended beneficiary, he however takes a big slice for his commission. There was one actor who was jailed for a crime and when he got out, he was interviewed by my husband for an article. It was a good story until the actor confided that a generous actor known as The King (of Philippine movies) has been sending him money regularly through the comedian. And it was too late when he got to know that he was only receiving 50% of the money coming from the generosity of The King because half of the money goes to the pocket of the comedian.
