This seems to be happening more frequently these days. When we first hear decapitated, I think many nowadays think the attacker/killer is probably Muslim, but this is also a tactic used by the Mexican drug cartels. Since he's apparently from Puerto Rico, he's most likely proficient in Spanish, and San Antonio and Houston are both close to the border and are cities used by the drug cartels for their trafficking businesses. The fact that his hands were also chopped off makes me think he possibly stole from them (or at least they thought he had stolen), and they cut off his hands to send a message to others working for them that theft will not be tolerated. Gangs don't mess around, kind of like the mafia. Not a nice way to be killed but when you lead that type of life, it's not a surprise.
You mentioned Muslims. Pardon me if there are Muslims here, this is not a smear. During grade school, I remember calling those people down south as Moro and no Muslim yet. And based on traditional information, the Moro is one who decapitates his victims. But he only do that when he is amuck or amok (the latter is the proper spelling here). The term amok was directly connected to the Moro as if the Moro is the only one who is capable of cutting off the head of a person. Presently with the daily killings related to illegal drugs, decapitation is not a rarity and that crime is not attributed to the Moro anymore.
One of the little-known facts regarding rape, especially gang-rape, is that of participants gouging out the eyes of the attacked individual. Therefore, if apprehended, they cannot be identified, and cannot be charged with murder (assuming they chose to kill the victim). Really sick. Even sicker is the fact that reporting media never reveal this fact, pertaining to a given crime. I find these kinds of events in today's society deplorable. I do not remember such atrocity back in the day when I was a young man. Frank
Yes, these types of crimes certainly do seem to have become more prevalent these days. I've never heard that Frank, do you have some inside information? I wonder why they withhold that information? If someone went at my eyes, I'd have to be totally incapacitated (as I'm sure most of these victims are), because I freak out at just the puff of air at the eye doctor. I'm afraid these things will keep happening until those perpetrating them are eradicated, or are scared to act, out of fear of immediate repercussions. The thought of prison at some future point does not deter them whatsoever.
