This is outrageous mainly because of all the people that must be affected, and the fact that I "just" now saw it online. They say mainstream media isn't even covering it, or I think he said we "probably" wouldn't hear much about it.
I'll just lump this in because it's all on the pipeline, but these people are trying to keep it out of their home, which we all know won't work :
We just heard about this, too, @Denise Happyfeet , and it happened near Birmingham, which is not that far from where we live in Alabama. So far, it has not affected our gas prices very much, but this is apparently the main line to take oil/gas from the gulf coast up into the northeast United States. They are not still spilling oil or gas according to the news I read; but they have the pipeline shut down to repair it. Since this is happening at the same time as the big protests about the Dakota pipe line; I have been wondering if this was not some kind of sabotage from one side or the other, to try and affect the outcome of that pipeline. The timing and specific pipeline that it happened to just make this seem like too connected to be simply a coincidence.
You and Bobby are the reason I thought to post it here, plus the fact that so many things are not reported in the main-stream news. I couldn't remember how far you guys are from that area, but I was thinking about people that live there. What if it was me, how would I feel. I would be so frightened I'd probably get in my truck and head out to who cares where
We cannot discount sabotage because there are so many reasons to do that. And it can even be connected to the recent New York bombing and the Minnesota stabbing. I'm not being negative but the chaotic situation that the world is in right now, it's anything goes. In another thread in this forum, it says that we have to find another source of news because it seems that we cannot trust media like before, that mainstream media is showing its bias and prejudices on the current issues.
They say the pipeline is being fixed now. It hasn't affected our gas prices here in VA but I know other parts of the South are being affected, and it was on the news last night that some places are running out of gas. That is really sad. I hope that the pipeline is fixed before it affects gas prices in too many places or causes shortages. It has been really nice enjoying the lower gas prices. I consider it a blessing! I mean it goes beyond the pumps, I think food prices have been a bit lower as well.
I don't recall when exactly I saw it, but I did seem mention of it on Twitter. I don't watch much live television these days, so I'm not sure if it was on the news here or not. I would think it would at least be mentioned, since the petrochemical industry is large here, but it does sound as if the issue is being addressed. I also wondered about sabotage. It does seem some these days feel that no matter what, the end goal justifies the means.
Yes, we saw this in the news yesterday, and I just posted about this earlier today, too. Maybe @Ken Anderson can just add my post into your thread, since I added into an older topic and this is a new one. They said that if they can get it fixed right away, then the gas prices might not go back up. This is very close to where a gas pipeline broke just a month or tow ago. I think that one might have been an oil pipeline, but they were both not too far away from Birmingham. The video in my post shows the huge fireball and lots of black smoke that was being seen yesterday, and the news reports are that one person killed, and more injured. This happened to the same company that had the explosion and broken pipe in Louisiana last month.
