This is a long article but very thorough and it basically says hair analyses for minerals is worthless.

I know quite a few people who were pre diabetic and their dr told them to lose weight and or watch what they ate and exercise and the next blood test their readings were normal.

Chrissy if you are going to use quackwatch as a trusted site than you should know something about them. They are funded by the web MD and the pharmaceutical companies to discredit anyone that does not use drugs. Even Linus Pauling who has two Nobel Prizes, 48 Honorary doctorates, said to one of the greatest scientist and humanitarian. Quackwatch call him a quack.

That's not the only site I saw this info on, Martin. Just chose it cause I liked the name. :)

There are many that say the same thing about hair analyses for minerals.

    @Chrissy Page
I would tend to lean towards the statement in your link which points out that the hair used for analysis is likely already several weeks old.....our bodies are constantly changing regarding the levels of chemical balance are concerned. Especially so, I've heard, but cannot confirm, that blood sugar levels vary greatly throughout any 24 hour period.

I worked for a diabetic specialist (he himself was a diabetic) and have seen folks who control their diabetes on their own to those that were so out of control with their diabetes they had every problem you can imagine. It's not just the sugar, it's carbs, it's exercise, it's diligence 24x7. My doc never let his disease stop his life though, he controlled his diabetes, didn't let the disease control him.

I had type two or several , was taking medication (not insulin) but after losing some weight with diet and minor exercise was taken off medication. My numbers are normal to low.

I have heard so many times that cashew nuts is good for a diabetic as it lowers the blood sugar in a natural way. But it has to be eaten sparingly like 5 to 10 pieces of the nuts at a time. My husband is always buying the rare cashew nuts that is not roasted which have a creamy taste. But he buys not for himself but for his relatives and friends who are diabetic. It is expensive, costing $10 for 1 pound pack. I cannot say if it is effective but those diabetics surely want those cashews... which are for free courtesy of my husband.

I think most nuts are good, Corie. Besides diabetes I've always heard that almonds are the healthiest nuts to eat
    In general.

Those aren't my favorite though but when low carbing I always bought almonds. Still shouldn't eat a whole bag or can as the calories are high. Think maybe 10 a day at the most but I'd have to look it up.

There are numerous foods, as well as some medications, that are said to be good for diabetes. Truth is, some are, some not. Certain foods some people just don't like and certain meds people just can't take.

Like in all things, you have to do what's best for you. There are people that don't care...I know some diabetics that
Give themselves insulin shots then eat anything they want but it's their life....you can't make someone do what they don't want to do.

Even though I'm not diabetic, not even pre diabetic....I probably eat like one but that's by choice.

One of the cash cows of the medical system is diabetes. So recognizing a cure is bad for business. Who does medical research the pharmaceutical companies are the people with the connections and the money to do it. They will not research something which cannot be patent and make a profit.

When they come out with a statement that certain nuts have x amount of chromium they show their ignorance because a plant/tree cannot make minerals and if it is not in the soil the plant/tree. Does not have it but that did not stop them from printing such garbage.

There is lots of printed material showing a connection between chromium and type two diabetes.

Here is on from the National Institute of Health

I never said eating nuts will cure diabetes, Martin. I said nuts are good for you ...in moderation.

I also told you my husband would buy every supplement that was ever advertised for curing something...chromium did not cure his diabetes.

Chrissy I never claimed you said anything about nuts and diabetes. I do realize you said your husband tried chromium but you did not mention if he used the co factors necessary was it injected because taking something by mouth has no guaranty it will be in the blood there is just too many factors to consider why something works or does not.

I deal in fact and the fact is that they can cause diabetes in animals by eliminating the chromium out of their diet and reverse the diabetes by putting it back in. This has been shown in lab research.

I have no idea Martin, he died 12 years ago and the diabetes was about 10 years before that or more...so I can't ask him and I don't remember what he did just that he was a triple tin foil hat wearing anti medicine crazy kind of guy. He tried everything that he heard of and cost didn't matter.

I put up with it because I loved him and it was his money. :)

    He died too early anyway.....

    Maybe that's why I'm such a skeptic.
