Beginning in October, the Seniors Only Club forum will be issuing one $25 Amazon.com gift card to one active forum member on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, with the exception of the 4th Monday in December when the amount will be $50. For the first two months, only the twenty "Notable Members," as identified in the MEMBERS tab of the forum, will be eligible, and then only if they have posted in the forum within the past thirty-day period. I expect to continue something similar next year, although some of these may be opened up to newer members as well. Currently, there are twenty members listed in the "Notable Members" section, and one of them is my "Ken Anderson" account, which I will withdraw from consideration. Among the nineteen who remain, some may not have been active in the forum within the thirty day period prior to the winner being chosen. The winner will be chosen by a random number generator, with eligible members being numbered according to the order in which they appear on the "Notable Members" page, and winners will not be withdrawn from consideration for the next drawing, so it will be possible for the same person to win more than once. Some of you may not be able to receive deliveries from Amazon.com, and maybe I'll consider some other options in the future, but right now I want to start out with Amazon.com gift cards because I am familiar with them, and they won't cost me any more than the value of the card. The gift cards will be electronic cards, so I will need a working email for you. No, I do not sell email lists to anyone, nor will I store them, and there's no need to give me your email address unless you win. If you cannot use an Amazon.com card, you can either let me know ahead of time, so that I can remove your name from consideration, upping the chances for remaining members to win, or you can forward the card to someone else who has an Amazon.com account if you should win.
Do you mean to say that the awardee will receive real money in the form of gift cards? Gee, that's wonderful. It's like being in a raffle if I get included in the top 20. That's very encouraging. And that "raffle" will be done twice a month, huh, really wonderful. For me, it's not a matter of winning but more of the enthusiasm that it will create. At this early, I'm already excited with that raffle. And whoever would win, I would be glad to applaud.
The e-card will include a code number that will add that amount to your account on Amazon.com. So it's not real money, as in being able to put it in the bank or spend it anywhere else, but that amount of money would be deducted from anything you buy on Amazon.com.
Very nice gesture and plan even though I am not notable ..........so I'll just continue to be deplorable as always.
Hey, be proud! I'm proud to be deplorable. I was going to do a post about all the deplorable in my family I know and all the great things they do for their community etc. But it was too much effort and I changed my mind.
I'm excited now I better check the list to see how far down ,my name is before I get to excited Thanks Ken ..
IF by any FAT chance i'm on your notable list . I have to just say thank you ...but I do not do any kind of buying or shipping on line.. so hope someone else would be likely to have a better chance to win.. Good Luck everyone..!!
I'm like you @Louise Williams ..I buy lotto tickets from time to time but when I check them .....the machine always says "Not a winner better luck next time"
It is easy to tell who is on the list. Just click on "Members" at the top left side of the page (beside "forums"), and then you will see the list of Notable Members. Naturally, all of the people who play games are near the top of the list because they make the most posts, even if they are only one word posts, they still count as a post. Several people who used to write a lot of posts are no longer here; so when you leave those out, the list is narrowed down a bit, too.
I don't play games and I'm way up there...I just talk a lot. Although I admit to posting a lot in the visual color threads but those aren't very popular now anyway. Yes, many on the notable list aren't here anymore. What makes someone notable? Is it the number of posts or what? If Ken pulls his name out will it bring someone else on to the list?
