I have hair that is mostly grey/white; but I have used blonde over it for a long time. I tried letting it grow out natural, and then didn't like the plain grey either, and colored it again.
Now, it is growing out, and I am at the point where I NEED to do something with it. I am tired of the blonde, and if I just let it grow out, then it will have yellow ends on it forever; so I do not want to do that either.
I started looking at silver hair colors because I think if I do that, then when it grows out, I can leave it natural gray if I want and it won't have blonde ends.
When I was looking, I found these gorgeous pastel shades, and that is what I want. It is still grey/white/platinum but it is not just plain gray, it has PIZZAZZ ! !
I showed it to Bobby and Robin, and they both agree, it is so ME. I think Robin will take me to her "Alchemist" (what she calls her hairdresser); but if she doesn't, I will order it on Amazon and do the home version, or check with the local cosmetology college down the road.
    Here is what I want.

That looks like lavender or lilac to me... I think it will suit you but I think you should get it done professionally because that looks like a color where things can go wrong at home....good luck!

    When will this happen?

It IS Lavender , @Chrissy Page . I looked at the bluish one, too; but I don't like blue very much. If Robin takes me to her beautician, it will be whenever she gets an appointment with her. I am also going to check with the beauty college here and see how much they will charge. I like the look of the mixed colors better than just the solid color that I can get if I do it myself from a box color; but it is going to depend on the cost, which I end up doing.
I can call tomorrow and see about the beauty college, and Robin mentioned her hairdresser; but I don't know if she will make an appointment for me or not. She goes to an expensive place, so it is way, way out of my budget unless Robin takes me there.

Hopefully the beauty college can take you. Is your hair short or medium? I can't do mine at home because it's too long.

It is growing out, but it grows slow. It is about shoulder length right now. I can do it at home. I always cut my own hair and color it at home; but I would totally LOVE to have it done professionally and have that beautiful mixture of colors. I have been keeping it pinned up in the hot weather this summer, and had it cut short before; but I want it to grow out again.

When we were younger, my husband and I agreed on the so called aging gracefully so we would not dye our hair. But when my hair developed white strands, it was my husband who suggested to dye it black because he said that I look old with those white hair. And when his hair started to be the same condition, it was my turn to tell him to dye his hair. And now I have my hair dyed in the parlor and I do the dyeing of my husband's hair. And our reason? It is all right to look old for that is aging gracefully however looking old makes us feel old as well. So why not just enjoy the benefits of science?

I just had mine cut to shoulder length a few weeks ago when I had it highlighted. I wear it up always though.

I don't go too often since I don't need it cut or colored because of the highlights. I go by my daughter, she's the only hairdresser that does my hair like I like it.

I paid $144 with tip which wasn't too bad considering I had let it go and she had a lot of work to do.

I believe that appearance is important so I see a barber every couple of years, whether I need it or not.

I feel that if the color is what makes you happy, why not. Just one thing about hair coloring and tinting that is a bit of a concern. If the coloring is safe and natural type and keeps you healthy as well as happy, why not. There is a school, Hawaii Institute of Hair Design in town that welcomes the public. The prices of their services are listed here.

Thank you for that information, @Krissttina Isobe ; but Hawaii is way too far away for me to go and have my hair done ! Actually, I think that you are the only one on this forum who lives there, so that information is probably not relevant to anyone except yourself.
This is being a do-it-yourself project , and I am doing it at home.
The beauty college near here charges $25 to do a hair color, but they do not have the pastel colors right now. I ended up just getting the Féria colors at the store and using that.

From what I read, it is best to lighten your hair as much as possible first and then add the pastel colors to that; so I have colored my hair with the Féria platinum color, and then I wait a few weeks and then do the lavender color.
The platinum one is really light, and I actually like it a lot ! There was a cream rinse included that I am supposed to use every so often that keeps the color from getting "brassy".
I found a set of hair chalks on the Amazon Review Trader, and I also ordered those.
This is how people add all of those beautiful rainbow colors to their hair; so you know that I will also be playing around with some of those colors when the set arrives.
They are temporary and easy to use in your hair from what I have been reading. The chalk colors can be used on both light and dark hair colors, and they achieve some amazing effects with it.

Will you take a photo when done? At least of your hair if you don't want to post a pic.

I will do that. Here is how it looks thus far.
Of course, my hair is not so long and lustrous as the one in the first picture that I shared. However, I think that now I can just let my hair grow out naturally, and not worry about it being white on the top and yellow from the blonde color on the ends.
The lavender will fade out gradually, and the result should be close to my natural hair color. If I want to play with it after that, I can use the temporary rinses and hair chalk.
