(I just read this for the first time.)

Well, I was very concerned. But I'm your wife, and I live with you. But it would do us no good to act out how panicked I was. It's my job to be the positive, calm one when you aren't. And vice-versa.

I'm thinking that perhaps it only seems that this is the case? You know, over the years, you have told me about some of the patients you've transported, and I feel I must point out the fact that when I ask you, "How did it turn out," you have most often said that you didn't know because you didn't see them after that.

I'm not contradicting you on the facts. I'm just saying that you probably don't have a large enough pool to determine the numbers here.

I'm not sure if Ken answered that, as I'm reading in order, but my short-term memory is very bad, and I don't want to forget to answer this question:

His voice is about an octave lower than it was, which is not bad. In fact, it's like I'm having an affair with a different guy. :)

The only other thing -- and this is the thing he seems to be most upset about -- is that he can no longer sing "Tiptoe Through the Tulips." Given the frequency with which he has done that in the past, I can see why he's not happy with this change, But I think with time and maybe some vocal exercises, that can be fixed.

Psst....It's always been a mistake, as far as the cats and I are concerned.

I have heard doctors say that most people who get cancer eventually die of cancer, although that might be twenty years later, or longer. Whatever made them susceptible to whatever cancer they got probably makes them susceptible to other cancers as well, or the return of the original cancer. Since we all die of something in the end, the likelihood is high that they will die of cancer.

@Ken Anderson The Medicos statistics state that if a man lives long enough disease-free, it's almost a 100% certainty that he will get prostate cancer.

Get it, not die of it. I wonder how much sense this makes? Perhaps about as much as the well-known heart-specialist who went on record as stating every adult American ought to be taking Lipitor!

In most cases, it takes a long time for prostate cancer to metastasize and cause death, so often they will die of something else - or another type of cancer - before the prostate cancer kills them.

I don't think my dad had prostate cancer and he died at age 93, but I'm jot 100% sure. I'd have to ask one of my sisters.

If he lived to be 93, the chances are extremely high that he did get prostate cancer. It's apparently something that just about all men get if they get old enough.

Yes, that scares me about my dad. He had kidney cancer about a year ago, and had one removed. He has frequent scans to make sure that the cancer has not returned. However, my grandfather also died of cancer, so I think it is likely that it will be something that will eventually kill him too. However, everyone has to die of something. I just don't want him to suffer.

My dad probably had it but maybe it wasn't diagnosed. I wasn't close to my dad so my sisters would know and maybe they told me and it went in one ear out the other.

He died after being operated on for a bowel blockage...he got a colostomy bag. Best thing was that he died 6 days later.
