Got to admit vise grips come in handy for a variety of uses, for sure. In the 60s my dad would come home with a different car every week, well felt like it. He worked at his dads auto and paint shop, so he would buy cars cheap, fix them up and sell them. Never knew what us kids would be climbing into the next morning.

Speaking of cars, age four memories, and the 60s here is one of mine. Me at age four in 1968 riding in the back seat of an old station wagon with my mother, her best friend, my two sisters, some neighbor kids on our way to the fruit stand. All of us kids are having a grand time back in the day before seat belts, jumping from one end of the car from another. Well, except my youngest sister. She was tucked away in the front seat.

All of the sudden, we are told in one of those tone of voices that I knew instinctively that I better take heed to tuck down, hide, and be quiet. None of us asked questions, just did what was told. Pretty soon, told it is okay to get back up. Low and behold, we are in the parking lot of a police station.

Apparently some fellows started following my mother and her friend around mistaking one of them as an ex girlfriend. Trying to get them to pull over. Could never figure out why they would pull right behind them in a rage right up to the police station. Next day our burgundy station wagon came back this pretty sky blue color.

I am partial to this gold color.

I think, this is my favorite comment of the week!

..and all other mothers.. well most.

We had a white Mustang. Always wanted this to be my first car, instead got a beat up bondled Ford Pinto.

@Magalina Lilis, you mentioned a Pinto. I remember our college professor telling us about the failure of Ford Pinto in the market. It is about the faulty design or whatever, I don't exactly remember anymore.

And speaking of Ford, our first car would have been a Ford Brenda. It was an old car that was repainted. After the test drive, we liked it so we told the owner that we would just get the money. When we came back, there was no more Ford Brenda, another buyer got ahead of us. Coincidentally, our car now is a Ford Escape that we bought in 2013. It was good for an SUV with a strong engine. Nice to drive than the Brenda, hahahaaa.

  4. My father had a Pinto. It was the first car I ever drove that had power steering & power brakes. He didn't like it much, neither did I.

When I was 4 WWII ended and my father came home from France where he had been stationed, I remember VE day and all the crowds and dancing in the streets, the boats on the river and the atmosphere of the time. I also started school, which was only 50 yards from where I lived, which was above the family grocery store.
My mother and grandmother ran the shop during the war while my father was in the army. I remember playing in the streets and my cuddly grandmother who treated me to ice cream when the delivery van came each week.
