I had the connection issue again today. I don't know if others are also experiencing it. I'm not complaining, just letting you know @Ken Anderson, in case you're not already aware.
There are DDOS attacks being made against several U.S. servers right now, and that might be connected to the problems we've been having. The Obama Administration has launched hacking attacks against Russian servers, and made this public a couple of days ago, so we might be seeing the repercussions of that. Right now, I can't connect to Facebook.
Oddly enough, the only issues I've been having over the past few days are with this site. A lot of times when I have issues with one site, I'll notice problems with a few others, but for some reason, this is the only one I'm having trouble accessing lately. Today, I had no problem, though. Maybe O doesn't like what's being said on this site, and added this to the list to attack .
I am having no trouble connecting to SENIORSonly.club right now but am unable to connect to dozens of other sites, including some major ones. If you remember, Obama launched government sponsored hacking and DDOS attacks against Russia a while ago, and we are likely seeing the repercussions of that. Here's a Washington Post story on it. The first series of attacks is over, and a second series has begun. The way the Internet works, this won't affect everyone but many people may be unable to connect to sites on the Internet. Our little forum may be affected as well, although we're not a target, simply because portions of the Internet structure will be affected. The problems we were seeing here may have been a part of a built up to this. Tech support told me that our forum was not specifically under attack but that there were DDOS attacks against the infrastructure that might affect the ability of some people to connect.
I also had no problem with this site yesterday. I had a persistent problem with one site in particular, and it was down for hours. I also experienced a few glitches with others, and some were unusually quiet, but thankfully, the issues all cleared up last night, around the time I was logging out .
When I looked at the DDOS map last night, the U.S. was launching more DDOS attacks against Russia (mostly) than were being launched against the United States, although most of the ones that were coming our way were from the southern tip of Africa and from China, not from Russia. That doesn't mean that Russia isn't behind them, of course, but there's no reason to believe that they are, since there is a political advantage to blame Russia.
I'm not moaning Ken, because I realise this is out of your hands, but just so you know, here in the UK I've been having problems at least once or twice a day connecting to SOc... I've not had any problems with any other site..
SOC has been fine for me since Wednesday @Holly Saunders, but then I'm sleeping when you probably try to get on so I don't know what happens after I get off my iPad ...usually around 6:00p.m. No, I don't go to sleep then but I'm done typing...
I had it happen twice this early afternoon Chrissy...you're 7 hours behind us...so yes you're probably right with your assertion
I thought it was 8, did your time change? We change Nov 6 this year. This is the only forum I had trouble with though. Even the ones I lurk on like SF weren't down, at least the hrs I'm online.
