I realize that the subject of immigration has been beat to death but I just found a wonderful link on my FB page that clearly shows what uncontrolled immigration can and does do to the economy of the U.S.A. The very idea that we are somehow helping the worlds economy and situation by accepting any and all comers into the U.S.A or western part of the world is just political rhetoric meant to ease the conscience of all those who are adversely affected by open immigration standards. Take a look see.......... https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1241902575866435
I watched that video a couple of years ago and it made sense. The problem is we are not helping these people where they live but making it even worse. Libya had the highest standard of living in Africa and we bomb them back into the Stone Age. Iraq had a high standard of living and now it is a destroyed country. Now they want regime change in Syria what for to have another Afghanistan, Iraq, or Libya what is wrong with these people in power.
I am not sure what this thread is all about regarding immigration. My contribution is our own experience. In 2007 my husband had an opportunity to migrate to the US on the strength of the approved petition of his father who was an American citizen at the time. But contrary to everyone's expectations, my husband declined to go and live in America. Well, that goes to show that not all Filipinos want to be there... some just wanted to stay here.
The key word in your post is "power". Nothing is wrong with the people in power, it is the people who allow them to stay in power that is the bottom line. Even the U.S. Is a prime example of the axiom: (paraphrased) In the land of the blind, it is the one eyed man who rules." We citizens allow the worse things to happen as governed by the worse people who could be in power. As humans, we adapt easily to any given situation but when a few decide that the adoption of a given situation is impossible, then real change starts to happen. When it comes to these other countries and the people who are experiencing the onslaught of inhuman circumstances, it is up to those same people to stand up and make changes. Unfortunately, the present "inhuman" circumstances have occured with the help of NATO and the U.N. who will eventually be stuck with the bill for reconstruction of those now impoverished countries. No matter the circumstance, it still stands that these countries cannot be helped by transporting their population out of harms way into the western world because financially and culturally, it's impossible. Now, if they were given the tools to make the necessary changes they need to make in their own lands without interruption by any other outside entities there could be some hope. Of course, that'll never happen as long as politicians are still politikin' instead of finding the proper avenues in which to maximize and insure stable aid.
I believe in helping where the person is. As @Corie Henson stated, not everyone wants to move, and not everyone should have to leave the place they call home. If something is intolerable, it needs to be changed, but not every change needs to involve transporting everyone and anyone out of the places where they live. In many cases, the problem is the ruling class wants to stay where they are, and enjoys having the power to enrich themselves off the back of the workers/taxpayers. Corruption exists everywhere. The problem is that those in power have the means to enact laws, pay people off, or otherwise exert influence, so that the laws benefit them, and they or their brethren remain in power. I have a difficult time imagining mass immigration from the U.S. in the event of a major disaster. I don't see bunches of people wanting to move, unless of course Trump is elected, and then suddenly we'll lose a huge swath of the population, at least according to their threats.
Bobby: I think we both agree when I said power I was not referring to the people we vote for they are way down the line of puppets.
