    Showing what difference a few days can make, the Chicago Tribune has published an article calling for Hillary Clinton to step aside.

    The possibility brings up some interesting questions.

    If Hillary Clinton were to step aside, my understanding is that the Democrat Party rules allow the Democrats to appoint someone in her place. However, do political party rules overrule election laws?

    Let's say the Democrats were to appoint Joe Biden in her place. Millions of people have already voted for Hillary Clinton, and Hillary Clinton's name is on the ballots, not Joe Biden's. How can you count a vote for Hillary Clinton as a vote for Joe Biden? Regardless of Party, we vote for the candidate, not the party.

    If the Republicans were to replace Donald Trump with Paul Ryan, I would be furious if my vote for Trump were to be counted as a vote for Ryan, because I would never vote for Paul Ryan.

    I can accept that the Democrats might be able to substitute another candidate for the one they nominated, but can they count votes for one candidate as votes for another?

    No, I think that if we are to remain within any semblance of an honest election, then Hillary's votes are Hillary's votes, not anyone else's, and the new candidate would have to win enough votes on election day to carry the day, and that's unlikely given the large number of early voting and absentee ballots that have already been cast for Hillary.

    Besides, whose fault is it that they nominated a criminal? The evidence was there, and a lot of people were trying to tell them that Hillary was a crook, yet they nominated her nevertheless.

    Can President Obama declare martial law, and call for a special election? Our election date is specified in the constitution. Plus, there is the fact that when martial law is imposed, our country is in a constitutional crisis. Under martial law, we are no longer functioning as a constitutional republic, and martial law can be extended for as long as the president wants it to, or as long as he is able to hold the government together. In a time of constitutional crisis, a military coup is as legitimate as any other.

    Yikes...I don't like any of the choices. It's very complicated.

    My best scenario is she doesn't step aside and then loses. :)

    Like I've been saying, don't be surprised if that or something like it, happens. I have this funny feeling Obama isn't going anywhere soon.

    Quite a while back, I used to think Obama would resign..... Biden would become President, then make Obama his VP, and then would resign, making Obama President. He could then run for a third...Non-Consecutive term.:eek:

    @Joe Riley
    Hillary's "husband" would NEVER, IMO, allow her to step aside......

    All this is why early voting should be done away with.
