"Soros was born in Budapest in the Kingdom of Hungary to a well-to-do non-observant Jewish family. His mother Elizabeth (also known as Erzsébet) came from a family that owned a thriving silk shop. His father Tivadar (also known as Teodoro) was a lawyer and had been a prisoner of war during and after World War I until he escaped from Russia and rejoined his family in Budapest. The two married in 1924. Tivadar was an Esperantist writer and taught Soros to speak Esperanto in his childhood. In 1936 Soros's family changed their name from Schwartz to Soros, in response to growing antisemitism with the rise of fascism. Tivadar liked the new name because it is a palindrome and because of its meaning. In Hungarian, soros means "next in line", or "designated successor"; and, in Esperanto, it means "will soar". George "wrote in 2000 about the Nazi occupation of Hungary, in the foreword to his father's autobiography: "It is a sacrilegious thing to say, but these ten months were one of the happiest times in my life".
I don't think I'll ever be surprised again at who gets rewarded @Joe Riley no matter what they've done. This guy is a crook from what I've heard and read. As someone very wise once said "there are some things I'll never be able to un-see", and I'll add to that by saying there are some things I'll never be able to un-hear PS I didn't see that blue link for Soros, I'll read that now. I was too lazy to google anything on him Joe, lol. So I only commented on the litte I knew about him. Ok, read about him again, also what the Nobel Peace Prize is, and it's too much for my pea-brain this a.m. LOL! So I'll stick to my original statement
I haven't studied up on him @Ike Willis but then I do depend on those that are in the "know" around here. I trust many folks opinions here because I have good, gut instincts. Listening to them is where I sometimes fall short I think we seniors do get wiser with age. I don't know though, they say ignorance is bliss, LOL!! Maybe that's why some of us get so cantankerous, we are "too" educated, especially from the "school of hard knocks"
It's interesting that his name means 'next in line', because I hope he's next in line to fall, now that some are waking up to what's been going on.

isn't that the truth, I think there are a lot of people, including myself, that feel like we might be able to go back to work, at least part-time. I like the freedom I have since drawing my SS at 62, but I think I need to have more structure in my life
