These sanctuary cities all full of criminals who are protected because they can not throw them out of the country and when released just go back to being criminals. The crime in these cities is the worst in the US. Sanctuary Cities Dig In For Fight With Trump Admin - Illegal Immigration - America's News HQ
I've been seeing a few groups of what appear to be refugees coming into where I work. I was surprised, the city I live in is not that large and they are quite noticeable. For some reason I thought they would be placed in more populous areas.
The way I see it, sanctuary cities are really enjoying their last heartbeat. We now have a full republican congress and a republican president so denying those questionable cities federal funding until they comply with the law will not be as hard to implement as it was. I'm not a betting man but on this one I'd bet that once those mayors and governors start feeling the sting of empty pockets for their individual concerns they will gladly kneel before mandates that are already in place.
Bangor, Maine's new mayor made a point of announcing that Bangor would welcome refugees. Sanctuary cities could be easily dissuaded by an offset in funding from state and federal sources, and it would make sense to do so. After all, if they are so wealthy that they can make a point of encouraging people who cannot pay their way, then why should taxpayers subsidize them?
Precisely my feelings as well Ken. Back pockets and purses are the best places to hit people who, for whatever reason seem to believe that taxpayer money is free money and can be spent any way a politician likes. Perhaps they take lessons from Barack who has spent a multimillion amount of dollars of our money just on vacations.
Bangor is a semi-liberal bastion in conservative Penobscot County, in that they most always vote liberal but not by such wide margins as we see in Portland. Several years ago, Bangor wanted every city for a hundred miles around to chip in and pay for a new civic center in Bangor. Our city manager was actually recommending it, and that was one of the political fights that we took on and won. At the time, we were facing the loss of the Great Northern Paper Company, which had employed two-thirds of the town directly, and contributed to the success of most of its other businesses, yet we were supposed to contribute our tax money for a civic center in Bangor, sixty-five miles away? I don't know how many other towns they were able to get to go along with them, but we didn't pay for their civic center.
I was just reading that Trump might be bringing some of the Christian refugees from other countries, which is something that has not been happening with the refugees that Obama has brought in, which were predominantly Muslims. That has been one of the things that was talked about during the debates, and brought up several times by Donald Trump. He would refer to the Christians in other countries who are being killed in horrible ways by the muslim extremists, and he said that we need to do something to help these persecuted people and not let them be slaughtered for their religious beliefs. The area where they would be going sounds like it would be the western United States, and if so, then there would be new workers to replace the criminal ones that would be deported. Once the sanctuary cities are closed, all of the criminals hiding out there will have to leave, and hopefully, this will help a lot with both the needed workers for the agricultural areas as well as removing most of the criminal element.
The Christians would have more of an argument for refugee status since their religion could mean a death sentence in their home countries. As for Obama's policies, from the Wikileaks emails, we know for a fact that Christians were being specifically excluded from priority status in immigration as well as in employment opportunities within the government.
