Cheddar is the most popular cheese in Canada. On average Canadians consume 23.4 pounds per person annually.

I'm positive I consume more than twice that amount as I love cheddar....

Most dogs have a vocabulary roughly equaling that of a 2-year-old, with "average" dogs understanding about 165 different words and phrases.

On January 15, 1919, a massive storage tank containing 8.7 million litres of molasses burst in Boston's north end, sending a large wave of the stuff spreading through that district, with an initial wave height of 7.6 metres -- about four times the height of an average person

I was taught in typing class that the QUERTY system was designed so that the most often used letters would be conveniently located where they could be more easily reached. The ones like Q Z X were placed in the more difficult to reach places because they are seldom used.

I always understood it was designed to slow a typist down to prevent the jamming of the keys in early typewriters, but evidently that is not true, like most things in life it's complicated ;) https://is.gd/kfH5m7

The word ‘snow’ dates back to the 9th century, ‘snowball’ arrived around 1400, while ‘snowflake’ (1734), and ‘snowman’ (1827) came much later.

The average snowflake falls at a speed of about 3mph, which is leisurely walking speed.

Siberia experienced a strange yellow-orange snow in the winter of 2007. The oily, smelly snow was feared to be caused by industrial pollution, a rocket launch or maybe even a nuclear accident, but was eventually blamed on a massive sand storm in Kazakhstan.

The first suspension bridges may have been made of twisted grass and built by the Incas over 500 years ago.

Bees normally buzz in the key of A, but when they are tired, they buzz in the key of E.

Reindeer eyes turn colour with the seasons, they are golden in summer and deep blue in winter.

Salmon are considered “anadromous” which means they live in both fresh and salt water.
