Ha, I was fuming with @Yvonne Smith, since I've had similar incidents with the post office. Then, I read @Bobby Cole's post. Levity does help in these situations. We all kept complaining here about these types of issues, with the North Houston post office, it's a main collecting/disseminating point, apparently for the region. Eventually, one of the news stations did an investigation, and finally things appear to be changing a little. The post office wonders why it never turns a profit. Many have switched to other carriers, due to these types of incidents. There are bad eggs in every company/quasi-governmental agency, though, none is perfect. I hope she gets the socks soon, and I'll bet she treasures them even more for having to wait :D.

I just checked the tracking again this morning, and the last update was for yesterday, and all it says is that the package is encounter to its destination, so I guess it is on the road and going somewhere again. Hopefully, back to Seattle, and then on to Debbie's house.
This same thing happened last year when I was sending socks to Ina. (Pretty sure it was socks then, too) The package was also supposed to be a 2-day delivery, and it bounced back and forth in Alabama for the first 3-4 days, and I went to our post office about it twice. Finally, it made it to Houston, and then it sat there for another 2 days before it got to Ina's house.
Bobby and have been talking about this, and from now on, socks are going to travel by UPS ! ! No more of this messing around with the post office. It cost $12 to send them, which is crazy anyway, 2 pairs of socks were only about a pound of weight, according to my receipt, so it can't cost any more to use UPS than it did with the post office.

Check the policy before you go to any trouble. I know in some cases, smaller packages are delivered by USPS, even if they are shipped FedEx or UPS. I don't recall the exact circumstances, but it might not end up any differently, although it would give you a separate company to grip to, and if they made enough of a stink to the USPS, maybe that would light a fire under them. I know I've complained about the USPS many times and even had a postmaster do an investigation last year on a package I shipped that was never scanned. Not once, despite being shipped to an address across the country. Supposedly it never made it, so I had to not only reimburse the buyer, but I lost out on the value of the item, the fees I had paid on the sale, and also the shipping I'd paid. I had no recourse, because since the postal carrier hadn't scanned it upon pick up, I couldn't prove it had ever entered their custody.

Today, the tracking said that the sock package was still in California, and since our branch of the post office was on the way to the fitness center, if we took that route to get there, we stopped at the post office on our way there.
It took them at least 10 minutes checking everything out, and then I think that they sent the head person out to explain everything to me. She said my package was "Looping", which meant that it was going back and forth between mail processing facilities.
She said they don't have customer service t the processing centers, and don't even answer phones, and there was no way that even the post office can contact them and see what is going on .
She said they don't refund money even when the package isn't delivered because you are paying for a presumed delivery and not a guaranteed one.
She thought it might have the address or zip code wrong; but no, she said everything was fine, and my package was now headed back to Washington yet again.
Tonight, the tracking page says that it has left the Seattle area and headed to its destination, so I am sure hoping that it doesn't keep on "looping" , and this time it actually gets delivered.
    So...... the sock saga continues.

Yvonne you must remember ever since the internet e-mail came along the old fashion postal service is suffering so shipping your parcel around the country is a way of keeping them busy. Don’t get mad at them just remember the old Maytag repairman

The tracking page says that it is out for delivery today, so I am HOPING ! ! I have not heard from Debbie yet that she got the package; so I am still waiting to hear something from her.
At least it is looking a lot like they are finally getting it there, almost 2 weeks later.

My sister-in-law called me last night and she said that the long-lost package had finally arrived....... we were both so happy !
Anyway, this morning, I checked the tracking page to see if it said they were delivered, and no, it does not say that. It says that the package has been delayed, and will not be delivered at the expected date.
Apparently, they didn't scan it in when they delivered the socks, or they are just really slow to update their tracking page. The odd thing about this is that when we order through Amazon, it always arrives right on time, and Amazon sends an alert to my iPad that the package has been delivered. We always get that alert within a half hour of receiving the package from the post office; so apparently they can update their tracking fast enough when the sending client is a large company like Amazon, just not doing it for regular packages. Strange.....

Well, this morning we mailed the package with @Ina I. Wonder 's Christmas present. They assured me that she would have it by Saturday. As you might guess, my faith in the US postal service is not real great anymore; but I am hoping that it will arrive on time this time .
I have the tracking number copied and saved to my desktop, so I can check the package every day and see where it is at, plus I also sent Ina the tracking number so she will be able to watch from her end.
Is that kind of like watching for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, or what ........

So far, so good ! The package went from here to Birmingham, and then straight west to Dallas, and this morning , it is in north Houston. Providing they don't do anything unexpected with it there, it should be out for delivery tomorrow to @Ina I. Wonder .
I really grumbled at them the last time for taking over 10 days to get the package out to my sister-in-law, Debbie; so maybe they are trying hard to do better this time around.
