Church of England Considers Turning Blind Eye to Gay Clergy 23 JANUARY, 2017 The Church of England is coming under scrutiny for considering a system that would allow clergy members to practice homosexuality while they serve in the church. Currently, gay members of the clergy, who have been ordained are asked to be celibate, change jobs or seek a promotion to become a bishop, The Daily Mail reports. However, the House of Bishops will discuss proposals Tuesday to see if they can avoid asking clergy members about their private lives and sexual orientation. The church’s parliament of lay members also known as the Synod had discussed the issue of homosexuality in July and growing rifts within the church have forced them to re-evaluate their policy toward clergy members. READ MORE This comes as no surprise to me. For years Churches have been turning a blind eye to their priests and ministers "molesting" members (especially children) of the flock they are supposed to be Shepherding. These churches that allow these sins to be practiced in their churches are not the churches that belong to Christ. In Jesus' Church sinners come to repent and receive forgiveness for their sins...not to keep practicing that sin and cause harm to other members of the Church.
I'm pretty sure many Catholic priests are gay, but not all molest young boys, so it's not known that they're gay and they are with the church as Priests so in conclusion...the Catholic Church has gay priests. No?
Don't trust the Church or its priests - hypocrites They disgust me hiding behind their frocks of the Church
Right now @Chrissy Cross ...there seems to be few churches that don't have gay or lesbian shepherds, etc. But these churches are not the ones Jesus Christ started nor does He call these churches His. I purposely did not name just one denomination because this perversion is wide spread in many denominations now. Churches may change....but God's Word doesn't and the closer Jesus gets to coming back for His Bride, the more we will know who really is His Bride. And it won't be the churches who make a mockery of God's Word and call what is evil good...and good evil.
Yes, it could be very stunning at who in the Congregation is gay and not gay. Just like, who is living together out of wedlock and who isn't. Same goes for the Clergy. My wife likes a Pastor, who is well known to some, who was seeing a lady in his Congregation while he was still married and living with his wife. Now he is divorced and married to the lady that was in his Congregation. My wife likes his Messages, but his past isn't so likeable. But, in all honesty, all Faiths know that there are things that go on within their church that is totally wrong.
This is true Cody, but God's Word even tells us what to do about this. We are to go with 2 or 3 witnesses to the person who is sinning and tell them they are doing wrong. If they don't repent of this sin...they are to be put out of the Church...so the whole Church doesn't start thinking this is not sin and doing it too. With a Shepherd of the Church who is sinning outright....he or she needs to repent and step down from that posititon. An unrighteous Shepherd cannot lead his flock into righteousness. The Bride of Christ cannot condone or approve...or even ignore blatant sin in God's Church or the whole Church will fall to ruin.
No one is going to stop this from happening imo. What it will come down to is just attending the churches of our choice. People will have to focus on raising their children "in the way that they should go" in their own belief system. Same here in America. Then hope and pray for our children and grandchildren that will be seeing and hearing even harder things than we've had to see.
Right on Patsy, it's the whole world. You've seen our mess. Many people here in the US have their own gods. And it's usually "whatever they believe is ok, is ok". The only problem with that is, what about those that think murder, rape, and more deranged ideas are ok.
@Denise Happyfeet - My home has been my Church for many years, how I live my life has been my bible Maybe a few more people should do the same
Many are nowadays Patsy. I don't attend church, but I do know a lot of people that do believe in God, or a Creator that is good. Lots of homeschooling too which someone set me straight last week on all the great things that their kids get from home-schooling. That's what it will come too. No one can take aways our beliefs, or force us to go along with theirs, or, condone them. And I don't want to ever try to force others. They get to make their choices as they see fit.
That can be it, but I believe that people worship things like themselves, money, material things, even other people they worship. I don't want to worship anything finite. If God isn't real, or Creator of all things, then I still choose to believe in something/someone infinite, greater than man and creation. My x had a friend that was athiest, but she loved to sail. She said that the Oceans were her god when he mentioned christianity and the bible. He then asked her if she was in her sailboat and a storm started to break up her boat, and she knew she was drowning, who would she call too? I never forgot that. Although I suppose some hard-core's would call to Howdy Doody or someone, whatever
That's right - if you are a believer, you are. Going to Church ? Fine as a social gathering but it doesn't mean you have a ticket to God EDIT - this is to your previous post Denise - post 12 @Denise Happyfeet
There are actually a whole lot more Home Churches like they had in the New Testament now days because of what is going on in the worldly churches of today. You are right @Denise Happyfeet many people will not try to stop the wrongness in their churches...but that doesn't mean we should put up with it, ignore it, or go along with it. The World is going to do what it wants to do....but Christians who know God as their Father, Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the Bible as Truth....cannot just go along with the the world or churches that become part of that world.
