I bought this bag of Chicory in March, and I use a pinch of it in nearly every pot of coffee I make, and I go through a lot of coffee, yet I still have half the bag left. It really goes a long way.

  3. It may or may not be available where you live, but you can get coffee (cans) with chicory already in it.
I like it very much but it tends to give me headaches.

Up until a few years ago I usually drank instant, but while I use a variety of brands now it's usually Folger's. Plain. I don't like flavorings in coffee.

Now I've gotten spoiled and like the freshness of whole bean coffee but I have used Luzianne often before, and it comes with chicory in it.

@Ken Anderson I bet you could tell us some "stories" about that Internet Cafe you once owned! :) Of course that would probably be a subject for a different thread if you haven't already started oen on your Internet Cafe.

That is probably very true Sheldon...but I'm trying to cut down on my caffeinated coffee because of my irregular heart beats do I thought maybe mixing half decaf with my regular coffee might help some. I really only have one cup a day, well one mug a day but even though I don't like my coffee strong at all I do notice a pick up in my heart beat some days after I'm had my mug of coffee. So I need to try half decaf mixed with my regular and see if that makes a difference. I think the coffee brand we use makes a decaf, so I suppose I should just check that out and start there.:)

Starbucks coffee will always be my favorite, but i have tried a strong coffee once imported from the philippines, it was called Barako coffee, it was really strong, but was very flavorful. It's best prepared by brewing it and then boil it with condensed milk.

@Doc James , when you mentioned condensed milk, I thought of a brewer I bought
for travel. Back when I was in search of the best cup when I traveled.
( the coffee in BAQ's wasn't very good, and I drank a lot of coffee from those machines in the day ).

    It's a Vietnamese-style filter.

I also got a small French press, later.

The Vietnamese one starts with condensed milk as the first step. Not bad, if I remember.

Still have the French press, but not sure where the other one is.

The only thing I used to get at Starbucks were their frappacinos and love their cake pops....will still get one on occasion but I just drink regular coffee for the caffeine and don't care what brand.

Even apart from the politics and the cost, whenever I have gotten coffee from Starbucks, it was way too strong for my tastes, which is the same problem I have with Tim Hortons. Although Tim Hortons has better doughnuts than Dunkin' 'Donuts, I much prefer the coffee at Dunkin'. MacDonalds even has better coffee than Starbucks.

Strong? That's something I never complain about with coffee...when I make it at home I make it very strong...I only have one cup though usually.

As for politics...I'm not a boycotter....if I like something I'm not going to deny myself just because it's what people are doing.

Dark Roast = way too strong
Medium Roast = sometimes too strong
Light Roast = usually good but sometimes tasteless

I always buy the dark roast at the store and then use more than I should when I'm making it.
