I love Spring! The lantana is in full bloom and so pretty this year. Spider plants are coming up all over in the ground around the Oak tree and there are figs on the fig bush, which the birds will eat before we ever get a chance to. There are baby tomatoes on our tomato plant and buds on the bell pepper plant. It's a most wonderful time of the year!
It's so much fun watching the tomatoes and bell pepper growing. The tomatoes had a head start since I bought a bigger plant for them than the bell pepper one.
This is the small teacup Rose that I bought for $2.99 at Trader Joe's 12 years ago on the first anniversary of my husband's death, it grows like crazy every year ! Oops, I forgot to tell the little cherub to face the camera.
Colorful flowers whether planted in the ground or blooming in pots add such beauty to our surroundings. And I don't know about the rest of you but they bring joy to my heart too.
Yup... Spring is in the air but not around here... We are still in the snow possibility season and every night it drops way below freezing... Spring will come when it comes and not before up here.. We NEVER plant anything in the ground before the first week-end in June...
Awhile back our Landlord cut back all of the bushes, etc. that were getting so tall and leggy around his property. Many of these bushes were Holly and Ligustrium...but this Gardenia was growing nicely and the bush was far enough away from our home that the strong scent of the flowers was not bothering my allergies when he cut it back and I was kind of sad when he did that, but it actually has made the shaping of this Gardenia bush prettier and the flowers on it are plenitful and fragrant. These Spider plants love blooming forth under the Oak tree and I love seeing them do this. I remember when we it seemed we couldn't get anything to grow well under this tree. Then one day my Honey just starting sticking the babies off the Spider plant into the grown here and they took off growing and never looked back. The cacti family plants seed and grow really well here too.
I love running errands and finding signs of Spring popping up all over. Today I stopped and took these pics of the bright yellow weed flowers blooming in the drainage ditches. They are always a first sign that Spring is on it's way over here. And then my husband looks for the lizards to come out. I caught this one sun bathing on the porch when I got home from Albertson's today.
Yes I'm excited too ! Its been such a lovely Spring like day here We have some more cold weather to come though, but today has been very welcome
I see flowers all year long but mostly the roses and pansies and some others that do well in winter. I look forward to my flowering trees.
