It's like you know the musicians said the f word, drank, did drugs, had sex with the groupies, male or female but oh, I like that song so I'll listen to it and it's okay. I don't get that. @Cody Fousnaugh Not all rock groups but the majority...just read their biographies. And if you think they didn't say the f word you're being naive.
Here is a glimpse of our generation. http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/14/opinion/stein-sixties-60s-sex-drugs-rock-n-roll/ Not everyone and certainly not me but a lot of us. The generation that is my grandson will be whining about their children soon enough. ...it's the way it is. I'm lucky in that in my surroundings I don't see a lot if what you are all talking about....they're not perfect but most are all.very decent people...and that includes their friends that I've met. The graduation at my grandson's high school went off very well and it made me proud. They did pomp and circumstance ..then the pledge of allegiance was said by everyone and Under God was included and then we sang The star spangled banner.
Why do we listen to Oldies and Classic Rock music? Because this older music doesn't have all the disgusting crap that a lot of modern music and movies do. Even with all the wild things that music fans done and some groups sang about at Woodstock, many Baby Boomers still love the music. Country Joe and The Fish sang a terrible song about son's serving in Vietnam and started the song with the spelling of the "f" word. A lot of Country music is about drinking, cheating yet the older Country music is still loved by us older fans. Today's music, like some of today's movies, just can't be compared to the "much more" wholesome music and movies of those "good old days".
I'm not here to "hagle back and forth" about today's movies and music, but now really agree with why Babs Hunt doesn't go to theaters. Some folks can tolerate the language, nudity and sex in movies today, while others think it's disgusting. It's true that bad language goes back years and years ago, but today it has simply gotten a whole lot worse.
Now you've added sex and nudity to the f word...I was only saying the f word doesn't bother me. And Richard Pryor tops everyone in using the f word and he's from the 60's or 70's.
@Cody Fousnaugh Now don't go putting words in my mouth that were never said by me please...my post said I don't go "very much" to Theaters anymore, etc.
Because sex and nudity seem to go hand-in-hand with the "f" word concerning movies. As far as Richard Pryor goes, he didn't use the f word in The Toy or Brusters Millions. Two guys that had raunchy mouths on stage back then was George Carlin and Red Fox.
Funny thing is, another pretty controversial Thread I done once on another forum was about swearing. Swearing didn't bother some at all to hear and others just couldn't see anything wrong with using the f word or any other swear word. One reply said, "you'd better get use to hearing these words, because a lot of society isn't going to stop saying them". There were those that don't like hearing and/or refuse to associate with folks that use the language. My kind of folks!!
Awe, come on, let me say it the way I want to read it (only kidding). Ok, Ok, I said it the wrong way! Boy, can't get away with anything on this forum
It's just I get my own mouth in enough trouble on this Forum at times Cody...so I don't want anyone helping me get in trouble by putting words in my mouth I didn't say!
Anyway, "bottom line" for me now is.........I totally understand why a lot of older folks (ok, Seniors) either don't go to movies at theaters or go very rarely. Unfortunately, not all movies that hit theaters come out in Red Box. For example, the movie about the life of Walt Disney, starring Ryan Gosling, never made it to dvd. Don't know why, but the last time I checked, a couple of months ago, it hadn't been made into dvd yet.
I tend to watch more series now than I used to but I do like movies too. Unfortunately the discussion on films is short lived given few see the same film and fewer want to discuss it. Good actors today seem few and far between. Though Streep and others do exist, but Depp was once a good actor and now is simply a sideshow pirate. Money doesn't make a movie but it sure helps. Name a few good contemporary actors? I'll start--Kevin Spacey.
Agree with Patsy! But, will add Signory Weaver, Morgan Freeman, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone, Viola Davis and others.
