in solidarity with the Paris climate accord. Kind of ironic, since turning on lights is bad for the environment...no? http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/buildings-light-green-support-paris-climate-accord/story?id=47784477 I would say the biggest wasters of resources and energy are the wealthy actors and actresses who hop planes constantly just to plug something on a talk show...going from West coast to East. I'd like to see them put their money where their mouth is...
The other thing I detest is the awful waste of lighting in many homes now Even lights on each step leading to upstairs rooms People are extremely wasteful today
Yes, but the ones crying the most right now are probably the biggest wasters...they of course don't see it.
Pretty soon I'll only have a few lights because I can't reach the ones that have burnt out....doing my bit for the environment.
I know and I have one but the problem is there is a glass lamp over the bulbs that I cant or don't know how to remove...
You are exactly right about the complainers being the biggest wasters, @Chrissy Cross , and I am sure that they will try their best to make things harder for President Trump now that he has stood up against the billionaires who are pushing the climate change agenda. Here is an interesting article that talks about this, for anyone who is interested in reading more. http://themostimportantnews.com/arc...-the-agenda-of-the-bilderberg-group-this-year
@Chrissy Cross If you could get up there you would probably see there are little screws holding that light fixture unto the fan base. You just have to unscrew those while making sure you keep a hold on the light fixture so it will be in your hand and not on the floor when you do loosen the screws.
To reach that light I need a taller ladder because with the shorter one I have to stand on the top step and have nothing to hold on to...so I'm standing there, head tilted back and trying to hold a light without falling. I have a few ceilings that are higher than the norm and the living room is one of them. I'm never in that room anyway and during the day it gets enough light so until I try to drag the tall ladder inside or I have someone here doing something else and I ask them nicely to do it for me...it's staying the way it is. But thanks ...at least I know what I'm facing if I do get up there...wasn't sure what I had to do.
Have you guys considered LED light strips? They last much longer, cost less in the long-run, are environmentally-friendly, and you don't have to risk a slip-and-fall reaching for cords or chains.
What would that involve in my living room? I'm planning on getting out of here in the near future so I'll just help the environment and keep that room dark.
The other countries don't care about our impact on the environment but the money they were expecting. We would have to pay billions while china and India weren't even going to,participate til 2030. Nobody has to stop what they were doing to be "green", we can still recycle and care about the planet as we always have or at least the little people...the ones with private jets..that's another story. And wether you believe in climate change or global warming...doesn't really matter...even if it exists our participation in it is minimal in the big picture.
America has been "carrying" other Countries for way to long as it is. Now we finally have a President who recognizes this and isn't afraid to try and do something about this injustice and I'm sure happy he's taking a stand in so many areas. I don't really believe in climate change or global warming but I do believe that many people "trash" the environment and think they don't have to conserve on anything during drought, etc.. but everyone else does. Personally, I think we should take care of what we have been blessed with and by being as conservative as I can be with our electricity, etc. it makes it easier to live within our means too. Out where we live they don't include recycling in our garbage pickup. When I used to go babysit at my middle daughter's house I would just take my recycle stuff over there because their services do recycle. Now that all the kids are in school and I don't help regularly with these grandkids it is to much of a trip across town to take the stuff over there plus it isn't conserving on the gas in our car either. I called my services and asked them to make recycling bins available to us to since it seems we are all paying the same price for our services....but the person I talked to said it couldn't be done. Now I know it can be done...they just don't want to do it. So now it's there problem and not mine. Still I try to have as little to recycle as possible just because I believe it is a good thing to do.
