    Most of us grew up in one denomination or another, but denominations are man made and can not save you. Many of these denominations can and do teach about God, His Truth in the Bible, and about salvation through the Son of God... Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus Christ we are saved, not through any denomination.

    When Jesus came to earth He did not come to start a denomination, although many may call Christianity just that. God our Father, sent His one and only begotten Son to earth to shed His blood to redeem mankind from the sins that kept them from being able to have a relationship with God our Father. God is holy, and He cannot be in the presence of unholiness (or sin), when we ask Jesus to forgive and wash us clean of our sins He then becomes our Savior and we no longer have sin standing between us and God. We become His beloved sons and daughters and can have the same relationship with God our Father that Jesus has. God loves us and desires a relationship with each of us but the only way we can have that relationship is by accepting the free gift Jesus died to give us. We do this by admitting to Jesus that we are sinners, telling Him we are sorry for our sins, and asking Him to forgive and redeem us from sin. We recognize that as sinners we need a Savior....and God loved us so much He sent us that Savior in his Son Jesus Christ as a free gift so we could have relationship with God our Father. Jesus is the only way to salvation and relationship with God. All those who do ask Jesus to be their Savior and redeem them from their sins become Christ followers...or Christians. They become the beloved sons and daughters of God the Father and no longer have sin standing in the way of their relationship with God the Father.

    Many denominations believe and teach God's Truth from His Word (the Bible), but there are also many denominations and religions that teach man made beliefs and doctrine. Each person has to decide for theirselves who and what they are going to believe. And since what you believe will affect your future, it is a good idea to spend time looking for the Truth and not just taking someone's word for it. It is also a good idea to pray that the Truth shall be revealed to you. God our Father is not into playing games with those He created. If you sincerely ask Him from your heart to show you that He is real and that His Word is Truth...He will be faithful to reveal Himself to you.

    Jesus established a Church (His Bride) on earth. And one day in the not so distant future He's coming back to take His Church back to heaven with Him to begin their eternal life with God the Father. His Bride will come out of many man made denominations who have taught God's Truth from His Word....but those in His Church know it is not the man made denomination that brought them salvation and eternal life...it is their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for all their sins and with His shed blood redeemed them so that they are the beloved sons and daughters of God their Father.

    When Jesus left this earth to return to His Father in Heaven, God sent His Holy Spirit to live within the hearts of all those who have made Jesus their Savior. It is throught God's Holy Spirit dwelling within us that we are able to live a godly life here on earth. When Jesus died for our sins, He died for every sin we have made, or will make. It is the Holy Spirit that is teaching us how to live as Jesus did. But this is an on going process and as long as we live in our earthly flesh bodies we will continue to sin at times...but as God's child being convicted and taught by His Holy Spirit we are forgiven for those sins and we will find us sinning less as we grow in Christ. When Christ comes for us, His Church we will be given glorified bodies that will no longer sin at all.

    We do not have to be perfect on earth. Jesus has been perfect for us and will continue to be so. We cannot earn our salvation by anything we do. Jesus did it all for us. It is as simple as believing that God spoke the Truth and by faith receiving the free gift Jesus died to offer us.

    @Martin Alonzo
    The thing I am most wary of is to see women wearing the Burqa
    Is that allowed in the US ?
    It is control over women and 'control' leads me down the line of Sharia courts and possible terrorism
    This aspect of culture should not have been permitted here
    With the tower block fire, I saw many Muslim women wearing the head scarf and was pleased to see in different
    colours, this to me is a good sign

    I don't know if it's allowed ...here in Fresno and the Central Coast I don't see many women wearing them.

    I've seen a few women with some type of scarf on their head but it wasn't a burqa. In fact I think they would die from heat exposure in Fresno covered all in black....but maybe they're used to it.

    @Chrissy Cross
    The scarfs are nice
    The Burqas are not - how do they survive in black from head to toe, with just a slot for the eyes
    So hot in there !

    In Canada it is so said that if you want a gun permit they take a photo of you unless you are Muslim and refuse to go without your burka then you do not need a photo. This is religious persecution of anyone not that is not Muslim. Canada I am glad I left sorry before I said something because they have now passed laws if you say anything honest about their religion you can go to jail.

    There are Christian denominations that require women to cover their heads as well. The Amish, for one, but also some of the Pentecostal churches and others. In the 1960s, none of the women in the church I attended (Covenant) would ever come to church with their heads uncovered, but most of them didn't wear a head covering except for church.

    Even the Catholic church used to make women wear a little veil cap, etc. on their head as a covering. I well remember wearing one myself.

    Nothing wrong at all in wearing a scarf or hat to Church, a tradition I like
    I well remember 'Sunday best' - even the poorest of us made an effort for Sunday - nice :)

    No, there is nothing wrong with wearing a hat, scarf, etc to church services...unless one is forced to do so. I loved when Easter came and my sisters' and I got to pick out our new Easter bonnets to wear to church. But I wouldn't like it if anyone told me I had to wear these things.

    When I was going to Catholic School and we had mass every Friday morning many of us forgot our lace head coverings (there is a name for them but I forget) we would pin a Kleenex to the top of our heads and it was accepted, lol.

    Muslims don't have to wear certain clothing if they don't mind being stoned to death

    That's against the law here so although it could happen, the person responsible will be prosecuted.
