Don't know about the 50% divorce thing, because all of my (that I know of) 1968 high school graduating classmates are still married to their first spouse. Some are widowed. However, my current marriage is my 3rd one. Had one Annulment and one divorce (same woman). My wife's 3rd marriage as well.

Michael, I haven't read all of the seven pages of this thread but honestly if you want a relationship then you'll need to get out of your comfort zone and go in search of one. If you have friends ask them if they know of any single women. join online dating sites, try the movies, join some senior clubs, go to dinner dances. etc etc etc. Me personally I met my husband online, we met at a seniors forum site called Buzz50. At the time I was feeling lonely and just wanted to make friends and to just communicate with other people, I had lost my mother to breast cancer three years before and was really feeling her loss as she was my best friend and we used to do everything together. Anyway all my friends had no time for me as they were working and had their own families to attend to. So i was wanting to occupy my time and to just make new friends. To cut a long story short as we got to know each other my husband and I moved onto speaking on the phone and then progressed to skyping one another, We did this for a while before we met in person, and the time zone difference was a killer. Seven months later i went to the states on a holiday and met my husband in person, married him a month after my arrival and we've been inseparable ever since. We have now been married over a year and three months and are in my home town for seven months in Australia. Neither of us were looking for love nor did we expect to find it especially countries apart.

One thing for sure, some “first” meetings work out great. Mine, with my wife, did as well.

A number of older folks want a relationship, but don’t want the work it can take to get one. They want to go out their front door and “boom”, there is a new relationship just waiting for them. If it was only that easy.

Hello and welcome to forum @Anna Peters. I don’t think we know each other, but I’m sure we’ll alleviate that soon. All of us are like a big pile of happy puppies. :p (Remember guys, no hitting me.) :D:D:D
