So far I just buy my yogurt bars at the store. Skinny Cow makes a yogurt caramel bar that my daughte bought for me last time I was at her house...and it was really good.
I just bought some outshine bars....the watermelon one is yummy and so is the coconut water with pineapple yummy....I choose by lowest calorie and sugar and those two are. Also bought the fruit juice bars that are mixed with different tea flavors...they're okay. I used to eat sugar free popsicles but Ive decided to cut out all things with sugar alcohol. I sometimes get the Yasso Frozen Greek yogurt bars which are very good..there's a salted caramel one I like.
Okay, it is time to update everyone about the latest yummy popsicles I have been making. After i got back from Idaho, Bobby had pretty well eaten most of the popsicles that I left, and the fudgesicles went pretty fast, too. My next batch was made with banana sugarfree pudding, and one fresh banana, and those ended up tasting like a frozen banana cream pie.....oh, they were good ! So, this time, I finally made the orange Dreamsicles, and we both tasted one already because we had a little left over and I put it in a small bowl for each of us to try and froze it. This one turned out like the creamiest orange sherbet in the whole world, almost exactly like I remember those orange dreamsicles tasting. And they are low-carb and simple to make. I used one can of coconut milk, I packet of sf orange jello, 8 oz of cream cheese, and added a scoop of protein powder for good measure. I also put in a few spoonfuls of that frozen orange juice concentrate to give it a real orange flavor. If I had had a fresh orange, I would have used that instead. I dissolved the jello in about a cup of water, and then blended everything except the jello, while it was cooling in ice water. Next, I blended in the orange jello, and then just poured it into the popsicle molds. I found some more molds at Walmart for 97 cents, and they work great, too. They are smaller popsicles, and the mold is one large piece, but the popsicles come out easily. It makes 8 small popsicles. Between the two molds, it is just about perfect for the amount of ice cream pops that I make each time. I have always loved ice cream, and didn't think that anything would be as satisfying as real ice cream; but it is SO unhealthy that we don't buy it anymore, except those little cups occasionally. Since I started making the creamsicles, we don't even think about wanting ice cream anymore.
Have you tried watermelon yet @Yvonne Smith ? It's very refreshing. I make the juice in the blender and use the mold after that. I also make papaya and orange juice together, it's unique. The popsicles are delicious...
Thanks for this idea, Clare! I have this gigantic watermelon and was thinking there was no way I could get through it before it goes bad. I have a juicer and a blender. I wonder which is best to use for this. The juicer extracts the pulp but what little pulp is in watermelon is probably a good thing. I'm going to have enough popsicles to last me the summer!
You can cube up that watermelon and freeze it for smoothies or slushies, and that will work, too, @Lara Moss . We had one that was not getting eaten fast enough, i I cut it into chunks and put it in the freezer. I do the same with pineapple when I find it on sale, and then when I want some for a green smoothie, or whatever, I just add it into the blender frozen. I am not sure if that would work with your juicer; but it might.
Even though because my juicer is very simple, and it's used only for lemons and oranges. Yvonne's idea is great as well. Hadn 't thought about that. Thanks, Yvonne.
There is a whole thread on here somewhere about green smoothies, @Lara Moss . It is in the health and wellness section, and one on the Vitamix in there somewhere, too. Searching is probably the best way to find them, and if you also add my name, then you should find the threads I started. Both juicing and blending are great ways to get that fresh raw fruits , greens, and veggies, and make them more digestible. And WELCOME BACK ! ! We have all missed your friendly smile and informative posts.
We have just about demolished the orange Dreamsicles; so it is time to come up with the next flavor we want to try. I have a few strawberries that need to be used up and also a banana (and Bobby just loved the banana creamsicles); so this next batch is going to be strawberry-banana cheesecake low-carb creamsicles. It already sounds delicious , and I haven't even started loading up the Vitamix with everything yet. I used my last can of coconut milk; so this time, i will have to use regular milk instead. It won't have quite the same creamy taste, and it does have more carbs than the coconut milk; but it will have to do for this time.
I have to have my snacks so I've been purchasing sugar free fudge pops, low cal. ice cream pops and am looking for some sugar free popsicles but haven't seen any yet. If they are low in calories I figure I can eat several a night when I like to snack.
Ha ha - I guess you're right We buy yoghurt lollies and have one each of an evening, so refreshing in the summer months
