Ok good people, maybe this isn't even possible, but a couple of times I've wanted to insert a picture when having a private conversation. But this tech zombie is batting 100% in the Ooops department. Can this be done or not? HELP!
if you mean posting a picture in a PM @Ina I. Wonder ..yes absolutely you can...I've sent you a Pm to show you.. You just do it in the same way as you would on the forum
Are you doing this from your iPad, @Holly Saunders ? I can't find any place to add a file picture from the photostream when I am sending a PM to someone from this forum. When I click "more options", all it does is let me preview the answer. I looked at all of the little buttons at the top, and I can see how to send a picture that has a URL, but not one that is a file. PLease explain ! !
I remain fortunate to the extent that I have only my trusty old laptop with it's sticking keys which drive me nuts! Frank
I have a nice touch-screen Dell desktop that I bought about a year and a half ago, but if I use that one you people wouldn't hear from me. I can only sit straight upright for about an hour, and then the nerve damage in my spine causes my arms and legs go numb. I have to recline enough to take the pressure of my spine, so I use my iPad most of the time. I admit if I go out, it goes with me since it's cellular.
Have they come up with replaceable keyboards for laptops @Gloria Mitchell ? I haven't used a laptop for a least 6 years, if the keyboard was malfunctioning, it was off to the computer repair shop.
As long as the laptop has bluetooth capabilities, I think that there is no reason that you could not use a bluetooth external keyboard just like we use for our iPads, @Ina I. Wonder . If Gloria says that they have replacement keyboards for laptops now, then they probably do have those, too. Although I can't imagine any reason to want to use one (laptop) personally.... I think that @Frank Sanoica has a great excuse to get himself an iPad !
@Gloria Mitchell How would I go about detaching the keyboard and disconnecting it, preparatory to it's replacement? Consult with a Geek? Frank
@Yvonne Smith Over and over I hear and see the term "Bluetooth, but remain still ignorant of the of the meaning and intent. My wife thinks it is a method used to listen to broadcasts such as music. Is an iPad a "Smartphone", or is that simply a trade-name? Frank
Frank forgive me I am an idiot ... just now realized you said laptop- I was thinking desktop...either way, but if you take in they can change it for you.
Bluetooth (basic explanation) is a remote way of connecting two devices together using UHF, similar to how a shortwave radio works. The odd name is because it was named after a king named Harold Bluetooth, who united two parts of Denmark. It is a good way to connect a wireless keyboard to a computer, tablet, or smartphone; but you can also connect speakers or headphones this way, as well as other devices. My fitness tracker connects with my smartphone by bluetooth and tells me how many steps I have taken, and you just pair/connect the two devices, and then they can share info. My iPad has a bluetooth keyboard which is in a soft leather case, and it looks almost like a laptop when the iPad is in the keyboard case. The iPad is almost 13" diagonally; so it is close to the size of some laptops, but a lot lighter weight, and way more versatile. A smartphone is the name for any phone that can go online and be used like a miniature computer. A tablet is the name for a device that is larger than a smartphone, and goes online like a computer; but (usually) does not have the capability of being a phone as well. My iPad can be used as a phone if I wished; but I don't do that. Plus, by connecting with the camera, I can have a video phone call with another person who also has an iPad or iPhone if I wanted to do that. Here is a picture of my iPad in its case (which is removable if I don't need the keyboard).
