They are advising on the internet to stock up on food, water (if needed) and gasoline, and they think that there could be many areas where the eclipse is total that will not have cell service for maybe several days because of the extreme crowds in those areas.
So, charge everything up, stock up before it is sold out on things like bread and milk, gas up the car, and prepare to stay at home for the next 4-5 days.
Good luck, and let us know how things go up there, @Tim Burr !

I have been watching the eclipse move across the country with the new on television, and then checking out the windows here. I tried going outside to look; but the mosquitos are out in full force; so I am just looking out the windows, at least for now.
It is definitely getting darker here, and looks like it is almost twilight out the back windows.
I just made a quick trip out the back door to see what it looks like, and the sun still looks pretty bright, but the cicadas thnk it is getting dark, and they are chirping like crazy out there right now.
I wonder what they will think when it starts getting brighter again ?

Just watched the eclipse go from total darkness to total light over the Grand Tetons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Actually, I don't understand why kids would have the day from school. With all the days they get off each year, this day to many kids would be just another play-day. Now, I know there are older kids that would understand and enjoy this "eclipse" event. To some today was important-to-very important, but to others "no big deal". To us, "no real big deal" even though I did enjoy watching what it looked on tv from Jackson Hole Wyoming.

I'll guarantee Commands in the military didn't give the day off so Officers and Enlisted could watch this.

This is an historic event even though some do look at it as "silly" as to all the news coverage and weddings that went on.

I think my grandsons got off because they were near were it was a total eclipse. My older grandson didn't get off school.

I think it's kind of an important event for school age kids to witness...it is science after all.

It was winter when I worked there. IVe lived in some tough winters. Wouldn't want to now, since I'm alone but I never minded winter.

In fact when we were there. We had to drive through the Grand Tetons to get to the next county. It was snowing and treacherous.

Next day we heard parts of it were closed because of an avalanche.
