Of course there are plenty of white people I don't care for also. :)

I grew up in the UP of Michigan, in a town where everyone was not only white, but related to me. I moved to Southern California, which was about as diverse as it comes. I had no problems with the people who lived there but grew to hate the fact that there were too many people living there, and especially the traffic jams. I moved to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where I was pretty much the only white guy, and still have several good friends there. I lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina, which is about 50:50 white/black, and my only problem with that was that it was too busy of a city. Now I am in Maine but I didn't move here to be with white people. I moved here because the area is beautiful and I could buy a house for $14,500.

I think it's perfectly normal for people to be with people with whom they have things in common.

Wife was born in Detroit, but grew up in Lincoln Park which is just outside of Detroit. Before meeting her, I knew very little-to-nothing about Motown, but she sure knew about Motown, the singers and the groups. Didn't take me long before I was also a Motown fan.

There were no blacks, or other races, in my grade school (that I knew of) or in the area I lived in while in grade school. There was one black family that attended the consolidated school (Kindergarten thru 12th grade in the same building, but separated by a hall) that I went to 8th thru 12 grade in, but I never seen them. My graduating class was all white, except for one girl that was Asian descent.
In my Navy graduating class, there were only three black dudes. When I worked for once company in EMS, I lived in north Long Beach, but covered Compton, Watts, South Central, Los Angeles. My partner was a black guy and extremely nice, unless a patient pissed him off. He lived in Compton.

So, neither wife nor I have ever lived, until we moved here, where the demographics/population was so high with blacks. Like already stated, "blacks love it here due to so many jobs for them". Most of the Hispanics/Mexicans here work in landscaping or Mexican restaurants. The people from India are either doctors or work in IT. Have a very small Asian population here.

    regardless of colour IMO....

That said...I live in a 99.9 % White area... I didn't simply choose to live here because it was a white area...40 years ago when I moved here it was unusual to see anyone at all of colour in the nearest market town (pop 25,000) there' was probably one person...and everyone knew his name.....and all these years on there's still very few.. maybe because it's very expensive here..I don't know, or perhaps because we're only an hour from Central London where the majority of Non -whites in the South prefer to live...and we here in the shires have nothing to offer them ..apart from very expensive property....

However , diversity is as diversity does... doesn't matter what colour your skin, as long as you're a decent human being... I'm a great believer in 'when in Rome do as the romans do''...so regardless of your ethnicity , if you choose to live in an area where the majority of the population are a certain creed or colour or religion , then respect that.

I live in a rural area where we have white, black and Hispanic neighbors. I have never been closely involved with the Hispanic neighbors but my black neighbors are as good a neighbors as anybody could ever ask for.

I probably have Hispanic neighbors but sometimes I can't even tell for sure. I don't think I have any black neighbors though....maybe one but I'm not even sure.

    All is understood.

However, I read an article online pertaining to blacks and where they choose to live, I read this:

"Blacks are much more likely to move into a white area (especially when there are some blacks living there) than whites move into a black area."

Our city is 50% White and 40% Black. A number of those blacks that live in our area now are very educated, "Upper Class", w/nice incomes. Wife and I have talked to some. One young black dude that lives in our complex is a Navy JAG Officer. Real nice guy!

Then there are those specific areas that I talked about in my original post, that are primarily one race, if not just one race. Look up Little Saigon in Garden Grove, CA. Look up Compton, Watts and South Central (L.A.) which is all black and very noted for just the black race. Little Tokyo and Chinatown are the same way......all Asian. East L.A. Is noted for their population of Hispanic and Mexican's. These are definitely areas that whites wouldn't move into. And, there are different areas of America where the population is mostly white.

Where we are seeing about moving to the demographics for blacks is less than 1%, but the Hispanic is 14%, which means the city is mostly white (85-90%). Denver, CO has a fairly low black population, but a higher Hispanic one.

    So, anyway......

This makes interesting reading... The 11 countries with the highest population of ''black skinned people'' outside of Africa...

For every country apart from the USA 'Black's can means anyone who is not caucasian..in other words anyone who has a darker skin than indigenous people...so for example in the UK that would mean Africans, Jamaicans, Indians, Pakistani's etc...

In the USA Blacks mean only people of African descent...

This demography only lists those of African descent for the USA...and lists the USA as the second highest population of people of African descent outside of the African continent... it doesn't include Mexican, Asians or Indian..

the UK is 9th..but that includes all other people of 'foreign descent with 'darker' skin than white...

It's a little out of date at 2015...but close enough for relevance...

To tell the truth here, I was pretty amazed when watching the old tv show Las Vegas w/James Caan as the head of Security of a major hotel, and seeing a beautiful young black gal (one of the Hostess's) who had a UK accent. Believe it or not, that was the first time in my life that I'd ever heard a black lady speaking with a UK accent.

Not unusual at all Cody...perfectly understandable. Even when I moved from Scotland to England when I was almost 20 years old..I'd only ever heard Asians (there were no people of African descent there at that time that I'd ever seen) but we did have Asians who spoke with a Scottish accent, so when i first heard Asians and Chinese talk with an English accent it was so funny to me I laughed out loud, because to me they all should have had Scottish accents because that's all I knew... ..
