I have made up my mind that I don't want to be afraid to drive and take a trip in our new car so even though I am not ready to take a really far away trip...I am ready to go somewhere. And since my favorite place to go is the beach...I'm going there! On Wed. June 21st I am going to drop my Honey off at work and then head out to Metarie, LA to pick up my oldest sister and from there I am driving us to my sister's home in Pensacola, FL. We will stay a week with her and spend plenty of time at the beach and some time with my other sisters too. When I went to the beach with my daughters and grandkids I had a nice time but the way it worked out I only got to see one of my sisters and only for a very short time. And I am missing my sisters right now very much. My Honey will stay home this time but in late August or there after our ex daughter-in-law who is still family to us is remarrying and we are invited to the wedding. So our next trip will be to Jacksonville, FL to attend the wedding and hopefully rent a place on the beach where our grandsons on my husband's side of the family can spend some time at the beach with us. I'm going to do it. I'm really tired of being afraid and I'm not going to let fear stop me from living my life to the fulllest while I can. Look out beach...here I come again!
That's great news...how long of a drive is it? I also thought of you yesterday because there was a car just like yours in front of my neighbor's house...same color too, only the lashes were missing.
It is not quite a 5 hour drive to Pensacola, FL but that will be broken up by the first stop I have to make to pick up my sister in Metarie, LA which will be about a 2 hour drive.
No it won't be a bad traffic drive as long as you time your driving through the bigger cities to not coinside with lunch or getting off of work traffic. Baton Rouge and Mobile, Alabama would be the two cities to avoid on our trip during those hours. My sister in Pensacola lives right off of Interstate 10 so getting to her house is a breeze too.
My 3 hr drive isn't too bad to the coast. The worst is probably hwy 99 and 101. Most of it is so boring you want to close your eyes and take a nap.
Wow! Great news!!! Remember you have SOMEONE looking after you. HE'll will be driving you... No worries.
They are having storms along the Gulf Coast, etc. because of the tropical storm in the Gulf. I have had to cancel my trip until the storms, etc. have passed.
That is probably a good plan, @Babs Hunt . This is not a good time to be out traveling around in your car unless it is necessary. We already have the weather reports telling us to expect possible tornadoes all the way up here once the storm comes completely ashore, and they are saying bad storms and flooding down along the coastal areas. Hopefully, you won't get flooded down there in Louisiana like happened last time ! Stay safe , my friend....
Yes, there is no way I could take this trip with a tropical storm bringing rain, a good possibility of flooding in many places, and tornadoes. Driving isn't my favorite thing to do in great weather, so there's no way I'll drive when it's not great and knowing that where I was going is going to get all of this bad weather too. Can't have fun at the beach under these circumstances.
I'm absolutely embarrassed. I'll take three lashes with the cane or better yet, I'll impose a ten days of no posting.
