I bet someone out there with the surname 'River' has called there Son, or daughter 'Moon'
Then we have 'Brooklyn' - 'Did you see Brooklyn last night ?' No, says I - I live in London
and me eyesight ain't that good
Of course he meant 'Brooklyn' the son of Queen Vic
Then we have 'Apple' which I like in an apple pie but could get very confusing in the future
with names of 'items' instead of good ol proper names.
    What say you ?

I like the name River, I have a friend whose grandson has that name..it's cute.....but I get the gist of what you're saying @Patsy Faye

It's not always unusual names... when my mother was giving birth to my baby sister the woman in the next bed was Mrs Down..when my mum asked her what she'd named her son she said 'Neil'...so my mum had a fit of the giggles, at ''Neil Down''...my mum apologised and explained why she thought it was amusing...and Mrs Down snapped back...well actually Neil will be his Middle name..his first name will be John....

My mother was in hysterics... ''John, Neil Down''... :D:D:D

Well I hate my given name. I don't see so much good for proper names. What really bothers me is the other name my mother said she almost choose for me. The name I have went much better with the last name I was born with since they both end in "a" The last name I have now (changed at about 7 when my mother married my stepfather. we were never asked) would go much better with the almost name my mother didn't choose. I hope I'm making sense on this.

Think I understand yer post @Kitty Carmel - you don't like your given name nor the name you may have been given :p
The good thing is we can vary our given name most times, or choose a nickname :)

I think that what KC is saying @Patsy Faye is that since her surname was changed, she would have preferred to be called by the first name her mother decided against...as it would match the new surname better
