My friends, followers (damned few), compatriots (not sure what it means), and all others mired down here with me, I must thank fervently. Seems time is "catching up". Nothing to be alarmed about (I think). My composure has been slipping recently. Someone recently wondered (@Patsy Faye, maybe ) what the hell I meant. Even I don't know. Everyday things are, for me, taking on new relevance, producing result previously unencountered, imponderables undecipherable even to myself. It has been a long, hard grind, often provoking great pain, often providing great satisfaction. At this point in time, rather than peer into the ending tunnel seeking bright lights, I am choosing rather to whisk brightened previous image. Things, they be a'changing, no doubt. Briefly watching some long-lost game show my wife was engrossed in, I recognized Gene Rayburn from years past. I had no idea of the time-perspective. This uncertainty led me to want to ask my friends here: As you watch and enjoy T-V show presentations from the past, do you, like me, experience brief episodes of recollection which suggest, for example, the Wheel of Fortune contestant greatly resembles Liberace? If you do, ya think we've seen so danged many faces over the years, that some MUST look similar? Frank
I did a thread on the subject of faces - because when you think of it, we must have 'doubles' I've seen two people on TV that looked very much like meself With so many people in this world, there has to be at least two faces that are identical and with all the plastic surgery going on - there will be more ! Good to see you in an upbeat mood Frank
Oh ! When I watch old programmes which I do frequently - I do have recollections, just as we do with music and its great !
Don't necessarily think "times are deteriorating", just changing for both the good and bad. Sometimes older folks, like us on this forum, have an extremely hard time seeing what life is like today. As for me, I really, and I do mean REALLY, wish there were computers back when I was in the Navy. I remember the first Stockroom (electronic/computer parts) that I worked in from 1982 thru 1986. No computer for inventory or for looking up parts. Didn't realize just how much I would like using one until 1989, when I had one in a stockroom where I worked as a Stockroom Supervisor. As far as tv goes, I watch, almost on a daily basis, a network called MeTV aka "Memorable TV". The old Gunsmoke and Rifleman shows are on there. When my wife was an "Extra" in movies, and was in a movie with John Travolta, she told me that John Travolta's "double" actually looks better than he does. There are a number of actors that have a "double" that look darn near like them. When I was in Square Dancing, there was a lady that resembled Loretta Lynn so much, she was actually approached by some folks at a hotel/casino in Reno, where her and her husband were staying, asking for her autograph. When they realized she wasn't Loretta Lynn, they apologized and left.
Nah, that just means that @Frank Sanoica takes an impish delight in setting deadlines. But what he doesn't know is that I'm old and tend to ignore deadlines. I might have my reply ready in another 24 hours..... or maybe not.
This nonsensical OP finally "hit home": it got moved to another forum. There I expect that rather than garner new interest, it may quietly die. Frank
I was just wanting to leave the announcements category for announcements. It should live or die here as well as anywhere else.
@Shirley Martin Then, Ma'am, do what you must to resurrect and keep it alive. I would be remiss to act in deference to a blurb I myself had begun. Frank
Many a time, I sit and ponder And as I ponder, I often wonder What the h3ll is @Frank Sanoica talking about?????
Whatever changes we notices I suspect many of us are changing too. Or comparing now to sometime past, maybe not. I've not noticed any one that looked like anyone from some past aspect of my doings or viewings. I have never seen anyone who resembles me, but have been told by others, they have. If so, I feel for the poor soul. I almost said 'poor devil' but thought better. But surely there's not two so ugly.
